Dude, get some sticky-backed foam sheets or something and make your own vibe-damper. That's too much money.

Anyway, looks good, I think Sony's floppy is a bit cheaper at Newegg. Also, consider getting a normal external HDD enclosure (~$40) and adding your own HDD (whatever the price is). It'll probably be cheaper than the already-integrated thing that Maxtor will sell you.

Why the hell are you getting so much storage? :eek:
 
I'd say do away with the floppy drive and get an external USB one as long as they work in DOS. I have been thinking of doing that since I have to shut my comp down and open the case up to hook up my floppy drive.

Probably getting that storage for bragging rights.

Stiletto is right.. you can spend like $30 on an external bay and then get a drive. I would actually like to get a 2.5" external bay and get a notebook drive and throw it in that. Talk about portability. Never was too keen on external devices though.. the drives seem to get too hot. Even some of those swap bays.

<><><> Or look for one of those external drives that you can connect right to your router through cat5. I know a few people that have them and they are pretty nice.

I dont know if you saw the poll in the storage thread but it turns out that 2/3 of the people polled have more than 400gb of storage.
 
if you've ever downloaded anything, you can never have enough space. with todays dual audio track 5.1 encoded rips, a sinlg movie can hit 1.5gbs in divx....and why fuck around w/ a dvd player when the whole flick can be placed on a hard drive and be played on demand over the network?

Its storage that I need for all my por...uh...high-quality DiVX archive...yes...in my previous computer I had 4 x sata 160gb when they first came out and 3 of them were completely filled :(
The issue I had with getting another internal HDD and then an external enclosure is the cost is not that much cheaper; I would rather get something warrantied by a manufacture in case it DOES crap out. Besides, the price on the Maxtor drive was great. A normal 300gb drive costs $238.99 at newegg. Add an external enclosure for 30/40 and its more expensive!

As for the vibration stuff...the 12 was for two kits and yes it was definately on the high side. But when compared to the overall cost its a drop in the bucket.

Some of them come with 40mm fans on the back, they seem to work OK for keeping hard drives cool.

And never mind on the enclosure. Isn't a 250GB drive, at ~$185 (WD2500JD, SATA) be a better deal than a $240 300GB drive? Like, GB/$$$.

Thats only cause it is sleeved by them and had all the connectors replaced to black. Going with the black theme, figured may as well do it right.

Umm. TruePower PSUs ALREADY have black connectors. And I sure as hell wouldn't play $80 for a sleeve job. :eek:

Unless you also got that really cool mod where they make all of the leads detachable, so you can just take off extras and put them back in when they're needed.
