hey In this link there are 2 directories which have both My raid 0 array with the promise and the Intel raid controller on My Asus P4c800 E Deluxe

http://team-bau.net/Raptors/

Please Tell me which comtroller is better with the bench marks Ive takes. The intels were take with a 64 stripe set

The promise is just standard

btw id use the promise, i hear sandra results are bs, maybe try another bench like winbench99

Id think that if he wanted to serve up his bandwidth like that
he would have posted the benchmarks with tags
I edited out the tags on the volvo as he might not have realized who was hosting
and doesnt have the option to edit your post,
but I do :p pwned :p

Its polite to ask first or host your own

you guys sort it out and If its OK you can fix it again ;)

not you :p
DruSi3r linked your pic and from what I could tell without your permission
though you posted afterwards I still wasnt sure if you where aware of your hosting it
figured if you wanted the bandwidth used, you probaably would have linked the benchmarks

the host your own rule needs to be pointed out quite often in any forum that enforces it
so thats pretty much what I was doin, since it seems you have no problems with it, I can go ahead and restore the tags if you like, just let me know ;)

[H]ard|Forums has been known to suck monthly bandwidth dry in a matter of hours
but I doubt anything approaching that will occur here in the backwater that is Data Storage :p

Actually, even HD Tach has problems with Promise controllers, incorrectly reading the outer tracks of RAID 0-enabled hard drives on that controller. If you discard the rise at the end of the test, you'll find that the average transfer rate will actually be somewhat slower on the Promise controller than on the Intel controller.

Also, HD Tach has a problem with Promise controllers in terms of interface speed: Since the maximum rated burst interface speed for the Promise controller is the same 150 MB/sec as other SATA controllers, but the Promise chip uses the precious, overloaded 32-bit/33MHz PCI bus, the maximum theoretical burst transfer rate of the Promise controller will be only 133 MB/sec (PCI bus bandwidth). Therefore, the maxxed-out bar for burst transfer rate is due to a bug in the HD Tach program, as well. It should have been a bit lower than the Intel controller, as well.

As for Sandra, it too interprets RAID 0-enabled drives incorrectly. In fact, Sandra reports results that are no different than for a single drive that's connected to the same controller.
