I think im becoming addicted to all this audiophile stuff and now my current setup just isn't cuttin it anymore. So I should mention I work at best buy and I get killer deals on Klipsch speakers so I am thinking of scrapping my logitech z680 setup and getting a really nice 2.1 setup with the hope of adding some surrounds later. So I'm thinking either a nice pair of bookshelf speakers or floor speakers but I need the experts help. I guess I should mention its primary use. They would be for listening to music from the computer and I would most likely be getting an M-Audio Revolution card for that.
 
first off ur link doesnt work.

second there are if your hardcore then look into better speakers. these are really nice speakers but u could do better. and a nice amp to push some nice speakers would be awsome. this is an expensive hobby however.

Okay, you have a discount, but how much can you afford? And can you list the speakers in your price range? You might want to add Athena speakers to your list, as Best Buy also carries them.

The Revo is a pretty expensive card. Put your budget towards speakers, amplification and source. In that order.
 
get a harman kardon AVR series receiver. www.hardmankardon.com and look under receivers. I have the AVR130 and it totally rocks, best sounding receiver in its class, compared to sony, onkyo, and yamaha. go to www.harmanaudio.com and get the remanufactured one for $230 and you'll be thanking me. dont be fooled by the low wattage rating. HK doesnt bloat their ratings like all the other companies.
 
Welcome to the Audiophilin' world my friend. Just please stay away from the Bose Powercube systems and anything close to it..
 
Well, whatever you end up doing, don't get their subs, they aren't anything special at all. Get an SVS PB10-ISD for 430$, it'll blow those puny Klipsch subs out of the water, no contest. The largest Klipsch sub on that site hits 26-100hz +-3dB, the PB10 does 11-100 +-1dB, and 18-100 +-3dB. It's got great linearity, which is very impressive.

Also, check out the UFW-10, from www.av123.com , which is highly rated by many. When their UWF-12 comes out, I'm planning on replacing my SVS PB12+/2 with a pair, assuming they have better output of course. Certainly, they would have better looks, that wouldn't be hard to manage =]
 
The first thing to do is to decide on a budget. Then estimate the mix of use (gaming/music/movies) that you think your audio rig will see.
