I had been using 3 Western Digital 200GB 8MB IDE drives, and a Western Digital 120GB 2MB IDE drive for storage - it was always offline so the drives wouldn't die.

I wanted a solution that would keep the drives online 24/7, and still be reliable. It runs on a Pentium 3 650/512MB/Western Digital 80GB 8MB.

For the whole project, I purchased the following:

CoolerMaster CMStacker
CoolerMaster 4-in-3 Drive Module
Rosewill 500W Power Supply
Kingston 256MB PC-133 SDRAM
Western Digital 200GB 8MB (5 of these)
HighPoint RocketRAID 464 RAID Controller

And in the end, I get the following:

And then I get around to organizing the cables.

And I get:

cool looking setup. sometimes them old slot motherboards you got lying around can serve a purpose and you don't even have to buy many new parts for it. got an old slot 1 pII or pIII at like 450-650 serving as my linux server.

Be glad it's on wheels, as that system looks to be pretty [H]ard to move otherwise :) If I ever get cash ahead, I will probably acquire a Stacker.

I'm sure you'll be quite pleased with the large quantities of pr0n, ahem MEDIA that will be readily accessible on your LAN ;)

I love my stacker. I've got 11 hard drives in 3 4-in-3 of the stacker drive bays right now (8 200gb seagates in RAID5, 3 HP 18gb U160 10k SCSI drives in RAID-1 with one backup drive), and it is a beauty. Totally easy to setup, those front 120mm fans on the drive cages keep all of the drives incredibly cool, and the fact there's dust filters everywhere makes keeping the dust out incredibly easy. It's an amazing case.
