Hi,

I priced this up at AVA Direct. I really don't do much gaming at all, a few games a year at the most- I am looking forward to Command and Conquer 3 though. I use this mainly for work in Photoshop and Dreamweaver, which I use daily.

Right now I have a Dell Precision 450, 2.8 ghz Xeon, 1 gig RAM. It's just over 3 years old, and I'm looking to upgrade.

Would you change anything from that build above, and is the PSU adequate? I went with the quad core instead of something like an E6700 only because I read a review, I think at tomshardware or here, showing the increased photoshop performance, and I'd like it to be ready for more multithreaded apps in the future.

I'd grab an aftermarket heatsink just to stay on the cooler side, and a tube of AS5 if you don't already have any.
 
scythe or zalman, do you have a preference? there is that option in the ava configurator
 
go with the e6600 for now. upgrade to quad core when its more mainstream (when it costs around $300 or less). a cpu priced so high will only drop in price... in fact, it'll drop so quickly, you'll regret paying such a high price for it unless you recoup your expenses with photoshop work.
