My New 6800 OC, big problem

Guys,

my rig is in my sig.

Basically, I bought a new case and Video Card. I install everything and turn the machine on. Gets to the screen that says starting windows XP. And just sits there.

I format. Install the SP2. Then install the Nforce drivers. My Machine BSOD's upon reboot.

Anybody know of any problems with the Nforce drivers, my board, and the 6800?

ANy suggestions on what to try?
 
What is the error on the BSOD? Have you tried going into Safe Mode / VGA Mode for Windows?

As long as I do not install the Nforce drivers, I am fine. But I also realize they are their for a reason.

And what specifically is needed from the BSOD that might help the problem solving?
 
I had the same thing, after 3 days of owning an a64 i took it back and got another p4

Asus + Nforce4 = poop

and what do you know... it works.. flawless.. first time.. lol
 
install the nforce drivers without the ide drivers, ive seen your problems before in other machines, leaving off the nvidia ide drivers usually fixes the issue.

Any performace hits?

What generates the issue from those drivers? Should I drop back to an older Nforce driver?
 
Our rigs don't seem terribly different - I recently upgraded my video card to a Bfg 6800 Ultra o/c and so far I've had zero problems.

I uninstalled my Ati drivers via the add/remove programs icon in control panel, rebooted, ran driver cleaner pro, rebooted, ran driver cleaner pro again, shut down, installed new video card and then installed the latest drivers from the Nvidia site.
 
An update. If I do not install the IDE drivers, the machine will let the rest of the Nforce drivers install.

I believe it is a pin on my main hard drive that is the issue. I ordered 2 new ones, (needed to do this anyway), and that should fix my problem.

So it was not the BFG card or my motherboard. Just sometimes we need to bite the bullet and get some new stuff. Provided the wife doesn't know about it. :_)
