Gotta toss out a big thanks to Klinkman for selling me a very nice CPU. Just got my new Asus Maximus Gene-Z and just got to tinkering around a bit this evening. ATM, it is running at 5ghz, and seems fairly stable. Ran thru some benchmarks and stuff for the last couple hours and no problems so far. I got a spare 460 in it (so no impressive scores, lol) on the workbench for now until I decide what case I'm gonna use this in. I did manage to see how far I could go to get into windows with it. So far....5.3ghz will boot into windows...but anything more than pullin up a CPUZ or websurfing will bring on a crash or hard lockup. I'm sure with some minor adjustments and tweaking...I should be able to run it @ 5ghz 24/7. VERY pleased with it indeed.

Quick question for you guys.....how common are stable 5ghz 2600K's? I been busy with work and such and really didn't get around to looking into it. Srry about being lazy, but figured I toss it out there. Thanks again Klinkman. ;)

The highest I can get mine stable is 4.8ghz at 1.37V. I don't want to increase voltage anymore. What voltage you running and what kind of cooling?

I get mine stable at 1.45vcore and that is using offset. Manual is even better and more stable. Seems almost all 2600K hit a voltage wall at 4.8. Anything higher in multiplier just needs a vastly larger amount of vcore.

I am running 1.45v in bios, but it shows up to 1.456v under loading. Temps are just fine. The max temps shown in the RT are after running some Intel Burn Test at max and 8 threads. The 2nd pic is a look @ 5.2ghz , but not stable enough at all. I just noticed after posting these...that I didn't have as much V running thru it at the 5.2. Maybe there is a bit more here. As for cooling, just a Corsair H50 with a single Antec Tri-Cool 120mm on it. Because it is still on the bench, and not in a case, I ziptied another 120 to the top of the H50 pump unit to get some air around the CPU socket. BTW, I didn't run the SuperPi to try to impress,,,just needed the cpu to boost for the screenie. :)
Slava, did you have cooling issues going over the 1.37 or stability problems?

I did not want to go any higher in speed or voltage because temperature was getting pretty hot. Plus I don't want turn up fans to higher speed because they do sound like 2 jet engines lol. If I were to get water-cooling, then I would try higher overclock. It was getting into mid to high 70 celcius.

speed/heat/vcore seems about right

people do get 5ghz, but usually they need around ~1.5v and a good cooler/water cooling
