Hello everyone!!
This is my first post here at Hardforum. I actually found the site by reading reviews that I found on www.Maingear.com .
Since, I started coming to hardforum as a guest, I have been reading many reviews and experiences that people have posted about all of the places they have bought a computer from. So I figured I would share my own experience of purchasing a computer with the hardforum community.
I want to tell you all about my maingear story. In 2003 I was yet again searching to buy another computer. In the prior two years I have had to purchase two different computers and to my expense both sucked. I first went with a gateway back in 2001 which was the summer of me going into my first year of college. I didnt know computers and because of that I went with gateway. They are horrible! The computer, which crapped out about 6 months into me having it, was nothing but problems. Customer service sucked and they never fixed my PC no matter how many times I brought it to them. I then purchased a dell. The dell lasted me a little longer and was cheaper then the gateway I had bought, about a year prior to that. However, the dell began to act up and was incredibly slow. I could not stand for the life of me to call customer service and get someone that read off of a screen these steps even the stupidest computer illiterate people could do on their own. Never mind the fact that I could never understand a damn word these people half way across the world were saying to me. When I realized that I needed to finally get a new computer I said screw this. Let me spend a bit more money, cause hey, you get what you pay for right? So I started shopping around. I was going to settle for a Sony, but a friend of mine said look into a boutique place. I had no idea what that was. He helped me locate a few different websites like alienware and voodoo, and I started to price compare. I had no idea what half the components were to computers so I was a good person to sucker into anything. While I was doing my research on what computer I should go for, I came across a review ,in I believe it was CPU magazine. It was of this company I never heard of called MAINGEAR. I read the review and was impressed with that the magazine had to say. So, I sought out to find their website and began to price compare them also. The next step I took was I called each company to see who would help me configure a computer while giving me the best for my buck. When I called alienware I felt like they were just trying to rush an order and automatically assumed I was going to purchase one from them. It was a little disheartening. I then did the same to each and every company on my list. When I got to maingear, I only had to call once and immediately got a Professional on the phone. I told them the same story as I did to ever other company. However, Maingear did something all the other companies did not do. They asked if I had a working computer, and told me to visit their website. The Professional salesman I had on the phone then proceeded to bring me to the configuration page. He explained to me each and every part for a computer as we went down the list. He explained how each would compare with other parts and what would work the best together. This salesman also would tell me that I didnt really need this part because all it does is cost more money and wouldnt do me any good with the reasons I needed my computer for. I was really impressed by the time and consideration that maingear gave me. I was also impressed that after all of that maingear gave me a better price then almost half the other companies. I told my parents and my friend about this decision explained to them each companies prices and my whole experience. Well needless to say, I went with maingear.
That was three years ago. I still have my Maingear and I still have not had a problem with it. I have upgraded my ram and put a bigger hard drive in but problems I have had none. I am so impressed with this, that I only recommend Maingear and recently had my parents buy one too. Im still in school and finishing my last year up. I dont want to get rid of my maingear when I graduate but I do want to treat myself to the best product I believe I have ever bought. I want to give the maingear computer I have now to my little brother who will be going to college this coming may, in order for me to move up to one of the stellar looking F-131s I have seen recently on the maingear website.
