so i have been thinking about rebuilding (waiting for the new Cosmos S to come out if it ever does...)
however, rather than how i usually do watercooling, which entails just having tubes everywhere for "optimum" performance, i would like to make my PC look nice and be easy to manage.
atm, i am running a pretty terrible setup for cooling what i have.
I am running a Q6600 @ 1.4v + 8800GTX (one of the first ones made too, runs pretty hot) in the loop. and another 8300GS for a 3rd and 4th screen not in the loop. the loop itself entails 3x120mm radiators in the top portion of my p180. one is on top, one is on the back, and one is on the front.
i have several problems with this loop..
when i first made it, i used the 120mm rads because i got em free. however, in order to use all 3 of them, 1 has to be put on the fan that is for air intake. this means that the other 2 rads are getting the air that just passed through the rad. running the fans in the opposite direction (so 2 fans get fresh air rather than one) actually increases temps because of the case design and the only exhaust fan being in a lower part of the case.
the second problem i have with this loop is that because of my new motherboard, two of my fans (back and top) now have to be mounted externally. this makes my case ugly as hell (before, i had all internal WC), but i was at college and it was the only thing i could do without my most of my tools.
third problem.. there are tubes everywhere in my case, you cant get any pci/pcie card out without taking off the res (which is in front of them), and my pump is stuck in the bottom cell of my case next to my PS and HDDs and the tubes i feel are a bent a little too much, scaring me that there will eventually be a leak.
With my new build, i want none of that. i have been waiting (and waiting, and waiting...) for the new Cosmos S because it can hold a top mounted 360mm rad without any modding (i like keeping things as stock as possible). and because the case is built like a tank. and during times, things can get a bit hectic in my room at college.. twice, a drunk girl has kicked the door off my p180..
Second, i move around quite a bit, and i bring my computer with me when i go (for 1 month or more at least). thus it must be strong enough to withstand any moving (by car) that my occur. (p.s. i know its heavy, i can survive 15 extra lbs dont worry ^^)
now, here is where i might get eaten alive for a bit..
how much do 90* bends in a WC loop actually affect the temps? i was thinking about having one almost directly after my pump (GASP!) that would go up to my radiator, it would make my build look much cleaner, but once again.. it could kill performance.
and then i was thinking about a second one right after my rad, which would go along the edge of the rad until it got close to the CPU.
thus, my loop would be as follows:
Pump (w/ top mounted res) -> 90* -> Rad -> 90* -> CPU -> GPU -> pump/res.
the way i have it planned out, i could keep tubing away from key parts of my computer (such as ram/pci slots)..
so, anyone have any input about anything? like how i can improve my current setup.. a different case that would actually come out that i can use, or even a bitchslap or two for me thinking about 90* bends?
