My setup:

Dell Precision T3400
Intel Q9550 @ 2.83
8GB DDR2

Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with 2 VM cleints up SMP1 and SMP2

Followed the directions to a T on the guide so lovingly provided by fellow [H] member.

Load everything up and its working great, having everything monitored through FahMon.

Noticed that its taking a very very long time to do the project's.

Talked with Tigerbiten a bit over IRC and realized I was working on P2483 and P2499, which are single core clients, they are not SMP gromac's.

My question is, is there a way to drop these clients to try and grab SMP WU's or did I miss something else?
 
That's actually a good question, I'd like to do the same with the 2 core-only project I'm stuck on. I'll bet if you delete all the other files in the VMs folder besides what you initally pasted in there when you first set it up, it will get a new WU. That's where it saves it's previous states and WU info.
 
I'll try that with SMP2 and see what happens.

That's what I always do and it works. You might want to make sure your .vmx file is properly configured to use 2 cores by opening it up in a text file before you run it after clearing the folder. BTW, why don't you just use one vmare session and assign 4 cores to it?
 
Okay did that.... removing all the stuff cept for the pasted stuff and reset the core....... jumped right back onto 2499. Didnt work

I deleted everything and reloaded all of it, tried again only setting it up as 4 cpu's instead of 2..... immediatly went after 2499 again.... fail
 
One more suggestion, did you change the amount of cpu's to use in your browser using your vmware sessions IP Address?
 
Weird. Try reformatting your HD and reinstall windows and Notfred, lol.

When the VM loads, does it display 4 cores twice, one at the top and one at the bottom? Don't know of a better way to explain this, as I don't remember what the fields read and am not at home :(

Sometimes it's just whatever Stanford hands out at those times. I've gotten sjatted a few times like that, hppens on gpu's too

If they keep dishing out 2499s and you don't want them, maybe config it to take normal sized VMs instead of large ones for now. Then change it back a few WUs later.

I just installed windows 4 days ago... time for reformat, HAH!
 
Okay, just realized something...... Virtualization was turned off in the bios, so I enabled it, reloaded everything again........ same projects again, brand new, starting at 0%. So it might just be that im getting whats available, and these may be all thats available.

muhahahahahahahahahaha..... okay. it just pulled 2662 and 2669
 
hey, you still wrestling with this?

or just changed the config to accept smaller WU's?
 
no no, I turned on virtualization in the Bios, it came back up and loaded the wrong WU's at first, I got aggrivated and walked away.

Come back and its on WU's 2662 and 2669.
 
Problem was mine with virtualization..... closing thread! :)
