I have been going through this forum for the past couple of hours trying to find a suitable replacement for my 6 year old Dell 2005FPW. I am quite happy with everything about the monitor, picture quality, lag, etc.

I am however finally starting to look at replacements that will allow me to do 1080p and take advantage of my newer PC. My initial thought is that well, anything newer is gonna look better, but I know that is not always the case. I am just pulling what little hair I have left out trying to determine what would give me what I have now (at least) but at a higher resolution. I don't know if I should stay away from TN panels because they will be a severe step down, or if they will be on par with what I have.

Currently use it mostly for web browsing, watching movies and playing some games (no competitive FPS though). Any suggestions would be helpful, especially from people who may have upgraded from a 2005FPW.

They are still far worse.

Do you have a budget? I'll suggest HP ZR24W, or Dell U2410 if you need greater input options. They're both 24" and 1920x1200. If you go for a 1080p display, keep in mind you'll barely be getting any increase in pixel height over the 1050 you have already.

I would like to stay under $350 if possible, but would be willing to go higher if need be to maintain the quality I am used to. Thanks for any additional advice.
