i figured if nothing else its pretty solid, 5 minute lepage steel epoxy ftw

might as well have welded the damn things together lol

those look great for a quickie mod

I'd consider spraying them a different color though (it continues the quickie trend, while improving the look, at least imho)

yeah i was thinking id grab some flat black and give them some love lol, match the black on the paradigms

Black spray seems to be the way to go. Anyways, if you don´t like it, you can spray it again and again, until you get something you like, haha.

Matte powdercoat or anodize them. It'd be awesome-r.

Also, how can you stand having such a huge screen so close to your face? I'm having trouble coming to terms with a 22" not less than 2ft away from me.

i sit back a way id guess there is 30-36" between my eyes and the screen

ive got in the habit of making text larger and sitting back father just to save the eyes :)

Those look pretty good, and that's a great way to make use of spare parts laying around.

hey, nice stands, gotta take a look around in my basement for something i could use as stands too :)

Sure they look cool, but I'm still cringing at all the resonance that is traveling from the speakers, directly through those metal stands, straight into your desk.

You really, really need some type of isolation between the speakers and the desk for the speakers to sound their best.

To keep with the ghetto spirit, what about some cut up mousepads?

They sell these plastic drawers (sewing drawers) for five bucks each that make great speaker stands. That's what I have been using for years and has the benefit of having a place to store pens, paper clips etc. so they serve a dual purpose. Like the small one on the left but mine are black.

I was thinking about having something like that for myself, but I'm worried that the stuff inside the plastic drawer will vibrate or make other weird noises at louder volumes... Have you experienced any of that?

i dunno sounds better then when they were on the desk, there's a decent gap under the speaker from the "stand" with some half inch thick soft rubber feet, and again between the desk and stands

Nope, no such issue. Plastic absorbs vibrations. If it was an issue though you could just cut up an old mouse pad and place that between the speaker and stand. That's what the OP should do with his stands. Or another method to absorb vibration is to stick some bluetack on each corner of the bottom of the speakers.

Looks fantastic imo. Nice work Joo, I may have to "borrow" the idea... at least in part. :D

lol good way to reuse old parts

and how many people have aluminum stands :p granted it might not be the best material but they seem to work just fine, and its amazing how strong the lepage 5 minute steel epoxy is :)
