Perhaps someone can answer this. I have been trying to figure it out for a while now. I am almost to the point of calling Creative. Anyhow; the problem is that my Aux2 (RCA inputs) on the front panel of my X-Fi Platinum don't work. The option to select them as a recording device isn't even there. I have tried many things.

Checked all connections, headphones and has power
Reinstalled original drivers
Installed the latest driver
Performed a clean install

None of these things have worked, do any of you have any idea what will fix this?

digging this up because I am having the same problem. Except I am trying to use optical in for my 360 so I can have 5.1 on my PC speakers. I gave up on figuring out how to get optical to work so I said fuck it and plugged up RCA....still no sound.

I contacted creatives incredible support, and there response was that they are always on so you just plug it in and it works! So I tell them it doesnt and never has and neither did my Audigy2 platinum and they basically told me tough shit then its your problem not ours

Thanks Creative! I have now tried this on 2 of my friends PCs as well...1 Audigy2 and another x-fi platinum....none of them work! I have tried a DVD player and minidisc as well and nothing works! As far as XP is concerned the front panel shit isnt even there.

Has ANYONE gotten this to work?

I still haven't managed to fix mine. Creative told me to sit and rotate as well. I'm backing up the system right now. When that's down I'll shut down remove the card, wipe the MBR, reinstall the card in a different PCI slot, and then do a clean install. If that doesn't fix it then there is something wrong with the card or the front panel.

I'll let you know how it goes.

ever since i installed vista x64, i havnt gotten my I/O front bay thing to work.it was connected and getting power (optical lights were on and such) but it just never worked. It did on xp in my old system but no idea why it doesnt on this one. i gave up on it after a while :(

any updates on this, or anyone out there that has a working front panel that can shed some light? For the record my optical ports lights are on too...

Alright, I managed to fix mine. I was finally able to try another clean install while moving the sound card to another PCI slot. Here's what info I can give you.

Like your's my optical output light was on and the head phone jack worked and that's about it.

Before I posted this thread I had checked my connections on the front panel and the card. The cable was not on correctly on the card but that did not fix the problem. However, when I got in there to change slots I got the card moved and Windows back on with the drivers installed. Still, same problem. I got in there and looked again to find that the cable was not all the way connected on the front panel. I swore I checked it, but who knows. Anyhow, I got it all the way on and started the computer back up. Problem solved, everything was working.

Here is what I would try and in what order. If these things don't solve your problem then I'd assume you have a defective front panel or card.

1. Try the latest driver. I know Creative is not the best with drivers but this is the first thing you should always try.
2. Check the connections on the card and the front panel. Make sure they are connected properly and all the way on.
3. Move PCI slots. Perhaps the slot your card is in has a resource conflict. Remember, Windows isn't that great at reporting resource conflicts.
4. Clean install. Wipe everything clean and start from scratch. Install the sound card drivers first that was you can determine if something you're installing is causing the problem.
