Perhaps you should read this...

We're not here to do all the work for you, but if you put together a build list, we are happy to offer improvements. Hell, just find another "build me a $700 computer" thread and steal that list as a starting point. We can tweak from there, but not until we know what your friend plans to use the computer for. There is a lot of info we need and that link above gives you the list. It is also stickied at the top of this forum so you can't miss it.

Personally, I think if you don't want to enjoy yourself researching your components for a personal build then maybe he should just buy a prebuilt system.
Otherwise, list some components and we can comment on them.

Here... I'll make it easier for you. Take the build in my sig which cost $900 w/o monitor. Downgrade the mobo to an Abit IP35-E and the proc to an E4400 and that ought to get you close to $700.

I'm installing an Abit IP35-E right now (XP, etc.) as I type this (on another machine), and my build is about $600; I had a few extra parts like monitor, mouse, keyboard, cpu heat sink. I went w/ an E6400, just cause I can. You might want to try and get a new G0 processor for under $200, if you can. But I'll have fun playing w/ this one.

What? nobody likes throwing builds together for people anymore? :p I would, but I'm workin on something, lol... but before I could, you'd need to answer some questions first:

Whats included in that budget?
Is tax and shipping included in that budget?
What size monitor do you have or plan to get?
What do you plan on doing with this system?
If gaming, anything else besides gaming?
Will you be overclocking?

That should be a sticky with the title "LOOK HERE AND GET HELP QUICKER"

Please at least read the sticky mentioned and give more information before you just say "gimme the best you can at $700".

"gimme, gimme" is getting old here.
