My first water setup

Actually it isn't the my first water setup strictly speaking. I have been using the Gigabyte 3d Galaxy II for about 6 months now and finally decided to make myself a real watercooling setup. Here is what I've ordered:

Swiftech Apogee GT
Black ICE GT 240
Swiftech micro reservoir
Swiftech MCP655
FeserOne wateradditive
Tygon 3603
Silverstone TJ09

My question is that from what I read on the reviews I should be able to mount the rad on top of the TJ09 right without any modding right? And I read that I'll have to flush and clean all the components before using with boiling distilled water, but how do I know when they are clean?

Also, is the loop Res >> Pump >> Rad >> CPU >> Res fine? Is it necessary to use a GPU block (I have a 8800 GTX). Will the 8800 gets too hot without one?

Thanks in advance!:)

btw, I want to ask whether my PSU can handle my PC. It's a Enermax 500W PSU, and I have the following:

Intel bx2 motherboard
Intel E6700
Cosair 1gig ram x4
WD 160 HDD x2
LG sata dvd-r x2
GF8800 GTX

You'll know its clean if when you pour out the water if its crystal clear. If it's cloudy or has any particulates then I'd keep flushing.

Your loop order is fine. The only important thing is to keep the res before the pump and to keep the res as the highest point in your loop. Nothing requires watercooling, but it helps. Your 8800GTX can run without a waterblock but it won't hurt to cool it with one. You'll cut your temps literally in half and have silence to boot.

In regards to your PSU, most systems won't break 400-550W upon full load with everything turned on. You don't have an SLI setup so you "should" be fine. However, not all PSU manufacturers adhere to the same standards. Some have aweful vibrations and fluctuations in their power curves. Some have optimal amps on their rails. I'd suggest getting a PCP&C PSU if you end up going SLI in the future.

Thanks! Just one more question. When you said to keep the res as the highest point in the loop, do you mena only when it is bleeding or keep it there for eternity?

Just for bleeding is fine... But for all eternitiy isn't too bad either :)

I just found out today that the mouths of the MCP655 won't fit the tygon tubes that I bought. the tube has ID 1/2" but the mouth's OD is 5/8". what should I do?

You think? I can get 7/16" masterkleer over those barbs.

What you should do is.... #1- Microwave up you a cup of plain water for about 1:00 min #2 Dip end of Tygon tubing in said water for about 5 secs of so #3 - slip now pliable end of Tygon tubing over the barb. Repeat for other barbs if necessary.

microwave? just boil a pot of water on the stove, take the hose stick it in the boiling water for a few seconds then push it on, IF you cant get it on with a little muscle. parental supervision not required but suggested.

That's odd, my Tygon fit over the barbs of my MCP-655 just fine without boiling them.

Then again, my first loop was 3/8" tubing over 1/2" barbs.

If you use boiling water for the tubes, it's generally a VERY tight fit, so no clamps are needed. You just have to cut them off if you want to flush the system at some point in the future.

Actually I was being too gentle lol. I tried again yesterday and with a little bit more force I can slip it in without problem. I have been running the 24 hr leak test and so far so good.
