Not sure what's gotten into me... I never overclock. When I got home today and hopped on my computer I didn't even let it get past POST... I just went into the bios and did it.

So here it is, my first OC (on the system in sig)...

everything seems good, prime95 is still running as I type this. i'm using a Noctua NH-U12P (SE1366) cooler and the CPU temp in speedfan seems to be hovering between 59 C and 63 C.... I'm only using 1 of 2 fans on the cooler. how hot can a 920 get before I need to be concerned?

decent of should be able to get to 3.5 or so without much of a voltage bump, if any</p>

I got it to 4GHz... i'm afraid to run prime95 at this speed. I disabled throttling so i could get my validation and screen grab. This has been a fun adventure; tomorrow I think I'll add the 2nd fan to the HSF, grow some balls, and see if it can handle a load at this speed.

I'm kinda pissed I never tried this sooner, the settings in this motherboard made it really easy.

WOW! congratz! welcome to the 'addiction' of OC. many a late night tuning and testing could be in your future!!! cooling is truly one of the main keys to better, AND SAFER, OC sessions!!! be careful and watch those temps!

Congratulations on joining the 4GHz club. :-B

Next up is overclocking your GPU! It is possible you'll make even larger gains in frame rates from a GPU OC. Overclocking a GPU is MUCH easier. Increase the voltage a little, increase the ram speed a little, increase the core frequency a little, repeat. It just takes time to test its stability.
 
+1 on the frame rates with GPU OC'n. i'd start with moving the ram core and shader's up, before giving it more V though. jmho here.
