Hey..

I just OC'd for the first time ever. My 3dMark03 score was 3994.
Is this low for my GPU? Or closer to the avg? One other thing. When I play RtcW for a while my system hangs now. Everything stops and there is no sound and the screen stays on the frame it froze on. There is no way to get out of it or end task except to turn off my comp. What could be causing that? Maybe OC'ing the GPU so high with stock cooling?

My System:
P4 2.8c 800Mhz FSB @ 3.22gHz
512MB Corsair DDR @ 400Mhz?
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB @ 486/345(690)

the rest doesn't really matter...

If anyone can get back to me it would be appreciated. Maybe some users that currently run a 9600pro could let me know your scores, OC, and if you're using stock cooling or not.

Thx =)

With my 9600XT I got 5521 at stock speeds and when overclocked to 540/330 I only got a little over 6k. I didnt see a big enuff difference in average fps to keep the clock at 540/330. My games run fine at stock speeds.

 My 9700 pro is getting beaten by a 9600XT.

My stock speed 9800 pro only gets just under 6k (5890'ish I think) so I also call fishy here.

Argghhh, I want to get over 4k, but my card artifacts at anything above 474 on the core and 338 on the RAM. :(

Well.. The first time I did it I accidently had 16x AF and 8x AA on and vsync, and was getting 2k and someone said that was extremely low for a 9600XT.. so, I turned everything off and ran it at 800x600 (Im not a resolution whore) and got 6k with my overclock, ran it again with the same overclock, got 5.8k, went to stock clocks and got 5.5k. And no, I dont have your link you want because Im to bloody lazy to register to their site just to publish a score that means nothing. I was originally running it to test for artifacts with my overclock. I dont notice a difference in performance with the overclock so Im staying at stock. Its the same reason why my 2.4ghz C is still at stock, when it was at 3.2 I noticed nothing so meh, I'll stay stock.

Oh, so you're not a resolution whore, you're just a benchmark hunter?

Your score means nothing, since you run at settings lower than standard. Your score, in comparison to anyone who ran the test at the standard resolution (1024x768) is useless.

I bet I could hit 40k in 3dMark2001SE, but hey, I'd be running it at 320x240.

Just what is the sense in benchmarking with settings you DO NOT USE IN PLAY? I'd have my bench settings mirror the way I play my games. Who gives a sh1t about getting 6000 3dMark03 with all the settings off... do you like to play games like that? The people who prance around boasting their scores are usually people that have no clue what the meaning of all this is for. Don't know about you guys, but my reason for benching/OC'ing is NOT to get highest numbers period.. it's to get highest number possible in a *real world environment*.

Okay so my score isn't that bad. Good to know  BTW itwas my processor OC that was causing my system to hang i believe. Thx for the input :)

If you were smart enuff to read my whole post.. You would have known that I did it to test for ARTIFACTS with my overclock. And yeah, I play games at 800x600 or 1024x768, sorry for not wanting to play things at 1280x1024. And I wasnt going around saying "My score is better than yours cause your a loser ha ha!" I just told the guy what MY score was, sorry for doing just that.

You can't run 8X AA on an ATI card.

hey guess what ....YOU LIE!!!

Sorry, yeah, your right it was 6x.. With my old 9000Pro I could run 8x so I kinda figured it was the same.. Lay off, and no, I didnt lie.

-EDIT-
Actually, Im gonna be a little more mature here and not reply to this pointless post anymore. Benchmarks are useless, I used it to test for stability in an overclock, posted my overclock score because the guy was asking, and I get flamed. Yay.
This is the last you'll hear from me in this thread.

He did, but he did it on 800x600 and with other settings changed, which makes his benchmark completely useless.

 indeed.

lol i can can get 13k if i tweak the settings just right. that was dumb; we only report DEFAULT scores
