My First mod (preview)

That's very cool. Just wish the drives weren't in the view. Maybe paint that part of the plexiglass black?

That would look horrible. No offense. I also would rather see the motherboard and everything else instead of the drives, but it works, and it doesn't look terrible.

Agreed!! Dont paint the plexi black... I dont think you would tho. It does block the view but like Aura said, it doesn't look that bad. If anything, just paint the drives black or whatever. I say keep it how it is tho.

Thanx for the pic. That does look very cool; there's just something about PC components displayed under a clear covering that isn't a computer case. Very cool!

Let this thread know when you have a worklog started or finished :D

LOL, paint the plexi black, I think not. I do not mind seeing the drives at all.. I have a worklog all written up in word. Anybody know a good way to put it into a thread?

Hmmm i guess just copy and paste into your replies... Are you looking for an easy way to make a word doc into a worklog? Just have a relative do it

Include lots o' pics :D

I am working on getting my worklog hosted by a friend, should have it up monday sometime.
In the meantime here is a another shot for ya.

Pretty cool, maybe coloring the wood more like the desk would help the appearence a bit, make it blend a tad more?

I found a host through a friend of a friend and hopefully by this weekend, we will have the page up. I ordered another 20.1" widescreen flat panel from Dell and I hope to have it by friday. I'll move that huge 21" CRT to my kids computer and have two nice flat panels to accent the desk mod. I will post a link as soon as we get the page up, stay tuned.

I got my new monitor today and Have it hooked up, here is a pic. Looking sweet if I do say so myself

Very nice mod. I definitely like it. Now, all you need to do is grab a radiator with side intake / outlet, and set up a W/C system with the rad mounted at the back of the desk on the horizontal plane, with fans pulling air up through it.

Also, I think you need to get rid of all the ugly blue and go with a black/red color scheme. My G15 lights up RED, and it looks way meaner than yours. Also, I'm using that same Sony 24" CRT you just replaced, and feel that you should be whipped with a wet noodle for getting rid of it.

very nice zero!!

the new screen makes it look so clean too. I guess you cant get rid of that desk now :p. I'm wondering though... how easy will it be to like upgrade to a new motherboard if you wanted/needed to? Is the desk case you made specific only to your motherboard or will you just have to mod it a little or will it be easy to upgrade?

Looks great

That's no lie, I will have this desk for a long time! Well, it should be able to take any standard ATX motherboard. So upgrading "shouldn;t" be a problem.??

I am glad you guys like it. I love it!!! My first ever mod has turned out better that I imagined.

Dude, I watched this thread from the begining and I have to say, you did a hell of a job. Made me think about doing this as well. If my desk wasn't made to hold PC I would, it would just look silly without the PC there though. :p But, goddamn good job. What started out as a little project turned into a huge achievement and it looks great.

Wow great work log... yea I burn lots of back-up discs too :p I think its great how well this turned out. It looks so apropriate, so integrated. Nice work!!

Extremley Unique. Very practical with your setup and nice work! Keep it up Homie!
