my eyefinity nightmare

Hey guys

I have recently purchased 3x Samsung BX2450 's and 2x ASUS 5870 V2's for my eyefinity / crossfire setup. From research I saw that some guys get lucky and eyefinity just works, I am not one of those people.

Basically. I can get all 3 monitors to run under a extended desktop mode under their native 1920x1080 resolution. When I make a eyefinity group for 3x1, all monitors default to 1600x900 each, giving a total 4800x900, instead of 5760x1080. CCC sometimes reports that i can go 5760x1080, but defaults back when i select it and click apply.

I am running a Sapphire Eyefinity DP to DVI active adaptor, and I am using CCC 10.9.

What I have tried:
Older ATI drivers
Original ASUS graphics card driver
Swaping the gfx cards around
Permutations of connecting the screens to other ports
Win 7 reinstall
Win 7 resolution settings (I actually got this to work once, but at a epilepsy inducing refresh rate of 25hz :mad: )
BX2450 drivers installed and uninstalled

I am at my nerves end here, thought this would be fun but after 4 days, its getting very old. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
 
I forgot to mention that CCC 10.9 does detect that the maximum resolution for each screen is 1920x1080. I cannot select these resolutions in CCC though
 
Make sure ALL your connectors are attached to the first "master" card (usually highest in the case). I once had a similar issue because I had accidentally attached the third monitor to the second card.
 
Two thoughts.....

1) drop back to 10.4 CCC and use 10.8a or 10.9 profiles.

2) Your adapter my be FUBAR'd

I had Eyefinity with 5870 vanilla CF and 5870 E6 CF and never once had any issues with EF just plain working.
BUT....I had two native DVI and one native DP Dell 24" monitors. I think these adapters just FUBAR everything.:eek:

You could try and actually install the drivers for your monitor. The EDID may not be registering properly, therefore the disparity in resolution.
 
thanks - all monitors were connected to the top card with all my tests.

I have also tried installation of monitor drivers and old CCC, issue remains the same. Starting to worry about this adapter though
