Okay, wanted to let you guys know my experiences with the Qpack:

1) The power supply doesn't suck. It's not a super duper power supply, but it's got more than enough amps on the +12v rail to supply me with the power I need to do some basic gaming stuff. SLI? I could probably manage it, but I've got more than enough juice for my processor and video card.

2) The windows are cheap plastic - while that helps keep the weight down, it also means that they scratch VERY easily. Already they're scratched up and I'll either have to buffer them out (if I can figure out how) or replace them.

3) There is enough room in this case for a GeForce 6800. I do not know if there's enough room for a 7800, but there is a bit of length left in the case.

4) The 120mm chassis fan is a little noisy but it does a good job of keeping the case cool.

5) There's enough room in the chassis to -easily- install parts.

6) Yes, the case is thin aluminum - that may be "flimsy" but it also keeps the case light and heat dissapating.

I think it's a good case and if you're mindful of the windows or are willing to replace them, it seems like a very good SFF even with the stock PSU for most operations.

does the xqpack use a standard atx psu or does it use a micro atx psu???

Some standard-length PSUs, like the Enermax Liberty, will fit in the QPack with a short-length optical drive.
 
what dvd burner would work with the liberty? please LMK...
 
I decided not to overclock the processor with the MSI motherboard and DDR400 RAM. I might overclock the video card later.

I believe the PS is a MicroATX but yes, you're going to be able to fit a full power supply in there. 420W in a mATX isn't that bad, by the way, so you might not even need to replace it. Then again I don't know what you're running.

Optical drive, I've got a Sony, and I believe either Sony or Lite-ON drives are short enough to be used with a full sized power supply. You may have a little trouble if you want two drives, even with the mATX PSU, that second bay is a tight fit.

The MSI motherboard-- I honestly like it, although everyone - Foxconn, Gigabyte, Asus - seems to have a MicroATX board with very similar specs. It was honestly a toss-up. I'll let you know if this thing has any problems.
 
most guys use a lite -on (make sure its the 170mm models). but i hear a sony and maybe even a lg would fit also. forget about a plex, toshiba benq or nec.
the stock psu was enought to power a 3500 venice oc'd, 2 hd's, dvd burner, floppy, 6800 gt, tuner card, the 120mm fan and a 80mm fan on my hs/f with no probs.
unless its a really big psu it should fit in there with the liteon. i have a coolermaster realpower 550 watt. i used to have an antec 550 tru control, and my game box psu , sunbeamtech 550 nuuvo would fit also. 7800 gt fits.
there is plastic polish i used to use when i did fine scale modeling that would polish out the scratches. the name escapes me now but it started with an "N" and you could get it at any hobby store.
 
Reason I went with a Sony instead of a LiteOn was because the Sony was a little bit quieter. If that's not an issue for you, I'd go with the LiteOn.

I am using a Silverstone PSU with a Plextor 716SA DVDRW optical drive in my QPack.

As long as the PSU is about 5.5 inches deep and the optical drive is no more than 7 inches deep there is enough room there.

Well, I'll be.

I -knew- that the old version of the PSU was cruddy - what I didn't know was that the new version of the PSU was the exact same as the old one with misleading advertising.

I've already got my Sony in there - what do you guys reccomend for a power supply?
 
As far as PSU recommendations go there are a couple different good options.

It is a must to get a PSU with short cables.

IMHO the best option as far as that goes is the Silverstone ST-52F that Falcon NW sells for their Fragbox2. However they don't sell that by itself anymore you have to purchase a Fragbox2 with it. (I got the last one solo before they corrected the glitch in their website.)

Before the Silverstone I was using an Antec 350W Smartpower 2.0. It has short cables, but it is a bit on the deep (5.9 inches). Things were tight but alright.

I believe the Enermax 420W noisetaker also has short cables.

I would ask this question over at Sudhian.com forums. That is a SFF forum and there will definitely be a better range of answers there than here.
 
Cables are always customizable, so a system that comes with shorties isn't a must.

Get a short modular one, you will be glad you did.

I have the Liberty500W, and if you call Enermax up, they will build you custom cables.

try this. its modular with medium length cables, decent size and quiet. cheap, relatively, when you consider its sli cert.
the name of the plastic polish is Novus.
aspire has great customer support. so far i have needed a front panel, a front panel i/o circuit board and a restart switch. email them, they will send you back a price for whatever you need, send them a m.o. , they immediately ship it out. so if your windows are really bad, you can probably get replacements.

Whoa, that's some nice sleeving! Makes me want to ignore the NeoHE with its crappy, halfway sleeving job.
