Hello all,

I am upgrading my current system:

Intel 2.8 HT
MSI Neo-FIS2R
2GB DDR 400 Value
BFG 6800 Ultra AGP
SB FX
Koolance Case
Enermax 650w
Sony SDM-P234/B Widescreen 23" LCD Monitor @ 1,920 x 1,200 resolution

To what I have so far:

AMD Opteron 170
ASUS A8N32
2GB XMS-3500LL
SB FX
Antec P180
Enermax 650w
Sony SDM-P234/B Widescreen 23" LCD Monitor @ 1,920 x 1,200 resolution

As you can see the video card is the last thing I need, but this is a very hard choice. I can afforded up to $1000 if I needed to so my first option is to get 1 GTX 512 and add another one later on. However after going through the "Out of stock" for weeks on the A8N32 is it worth it to deal with that again?

Or I can just grab 2 of the KO's but no upgrade option later on...

Damn technology moves to fast!

I only games I play are MMORG's. Any suggestions?

$1000 for video? If money is no object, then do the two 512 gtx SLI whenever possible, although newegg says 750 for just one?

Go the eVGA route and get yourself 1 or 2 256Mb GTX's. Then you can turn right around and get on the "step up" list to get 1 or 2 512's whenever they are in stock. That way you get your GTX goodness now and 512GTX goodness whenever they get some in stock.

I would hold off until the end of the month if possible and get an X1900XT... *early* impressions of it are nice... and it will probably perform better than a 7800GTX 512. It will probably cost more, but with a $1000 budget for video, you're fine for anything.

Is it just me, or is it alarming that the debuts of high end graphics cards are getting more and more expensive each cycle?

Dont count on being able to add another 7800gtx 512 later on as they're being phased out in feb...

Yeah... I know... I too think this is getting kind of out of hand. Video cards never were the most expensive part of the computer in the past...

But I always seem to get about five years out of each system I get. I just hope I don't have to buy a $2000 graphics card in five years.
