I just purchased a 2005FPW. I have always been pretty anal about imperfections when I make a purchase but for whatever reason I was never inclined to inspect for backlight bleeding. I once had a 15" cheapo LCD replaced because the backlighht was BEAMING through, but that was entirely different than the average bleeding. Anyhoo, my expectations are high for text and game quality/performance. I read pages and pages of 2005FPW threads and I was aware of the potential for either dead pixels or the dreaded backlight bleeding. Those without these issues seemed to be very happy with the monitor. Even the folks that had problems were getting 2-3 replacements. I ordered the monitor without too much hesitation because I knew I'd either be very happy or I'd get it replaced. I think that's key. If Dell had these problems and they were refusing returns left & right or fine tuning their policy as many other vendors have to discourage replacements, I probably would have passed. I received the monitor and it did have backlight showing through. With the seed planted from all the "research" I perceived this a problem. I posted pics here and everyone said the monitor looked fine. The backlight was showing through but pretty even across the screen. Prior to all the feedback, I shot an email to Dell and a few hours later received a reply. The Dell rep apologized for the inconvenience and I received the replacement the next day. I compared the 2 and if anything the replacement monitor's backlight was more pronounced than the original but neither is extremely bad or uneven. Both have zero pixels. (1 dead pixel would drive me nuts) I'll keep the original and I feel pretty good about the service I received. It's also good to know that I can return this puppy for a full refund within 21 days if I choose to....hassle free....but I probably won't. :) Newegg won't even take a monitor back unless it has X dead pixels and they have a 15% restocking fee across the board

So, OK... maybe they have a few flakey products and could do a bit better in the QC dept. In the meantime, as long as they keep replacing monitors who cares. It's never convenient but it's a lot better than some other manufacturers where you'll get lost on hold or refused a replacement for whatever reason.

Good Job Dell !

Yeah I woudnt have a doubt about going with dell for a monitor.. good return policy.. just have to get a understanding/understandable customer care rep.. :)
