Basicly, the stupid thing overheats like a mofo, and it needed to be cooled down... no i didnt epoxy the sink to the thing... but hey, it works. Now it only overheats when i have both computers going at full blast download :D

hehe, nice....shoudl have put a huge ass heatsink on there :)

SLK 900 anyone? :D :D

my netgear has the same problem, and the psu outputs 12v, maybe i'll strap an sp97 and a 8k screamer to it (or just some old p1 hsf's)

edit: wonder if you up the voltage if you can move stuff down the line at 15mbs vs 100?

Better :D Actully for some reason this is working like 10x better, it has not overheated yet... 'mazing. The heatsink is hot as hell though.

Because they know its the best thing you can get for 20 dollars :D

Don't want to thread hijack but I was bored (and snowed in) and seeing those pix gave me inspiration

and the obligatory night one

It's powered off the computer psu for the time being, once I get back to school I'm going to solder it onto the pcb power connector.

My netgear had sinks already on the hot chips, so I left them on, and took a spare tri led fan and some zipties and had fun :D It's pointless, but it kept me occupied.

I was gonna do that, but im too lazy to turn off my computer... :D Ive got this old 90mm fan from some MADD old computers powersupply. Same computer that donated that heatsink (green one)

*edit

I also wanted to ask, has anyone ever thought of maybe modding a hub/router into their case? Just a thought.

There was a post on the front of [H] awhile ago that they did it to their tower (chieftec style) case. Looked really good.

I actually did that to my 8 port switch, added 2 big heatsinks (old school socket 7 ones) cause i noticed how hot the damn thing gets... it's a pretty good sized, probably about 10" long by 6" wide... i'm goign to mod it into my soon to be uATX case :D

It'll be pretty much the ultimate Lan rig (perhaps even server)... I didn't really want to say anything because you hear "omg i'm goign to do this and this and that etc" all the time and no one ever follows through :D

I'm workin' on it though.

My SMC router use to crash every once and a while during the summer when it would overheat. I would add some heatsinks if I could get the damn thing open... I take the screws out but it won't come apart
