My cpu

A P4 2.4ghz Northwood. I've had it for a while, probally 7 months or so. And of course now i know its out dated, but for its time, is this a good chip?

Is it the 533 or 800 FSB?... Both are pretty decent processors.

Decent chip. If it OC's well, then it could be an awesome chip. Try it and find out...

if its a 2.4c 800 fsb, its still a great chip. mine runs at 3.3ghz default voltage and im testing now at 3.4

It's 533, and yes, it does OC well, I had it OC'ed to 2.9 before, but saw no reason to continue to run it at that speed.

for a 533 it's good. my 2.4c does 3ghz no sweat tho. default volts, cheap hsf. i run a little higher volts irl though. if your mobo supports prescotts it's a relatively cheap upgrade path. I'm prolly gonna go that way soon (and very soon, </sing>).

well if you see no reason to upgrade to a faster chip, then dont upgrade. if its not broke dont fix it.

Yeah, if you feel as if you do not need your computer to go any faster, then use that money for another source of upgrade like video card, sound card, and etc.

My 2.4C OCing at 3.0 is keeping me pretty much satisfied.

If you're happy with the chip and the current performance, I don't see much of a reason to upgrade or buy a new configuration if you haven't encountered something where the CPU doesn't perform up to your expectations.

No, actually I'm not. It's running perfect. It's just that my friend is a hardcore AMD fan, and is always bashing Intel....and I was just wondering if my particular chip is a good one, because either way my chip is faster then his...hes ocing 400mhz and is still running slower then I am...so i was only asking out of curiosity, thats all.

Pay no mind to fanboys. Make your own choices based on what your needs are and what kind of performance you're seeing from different processors in reviews and performance tests.

AMDs' and Intels' chips have different strengths and weaknesses. The P4 2.4B is a little old, but it is still a good CPU.
