my cpu is hot!

Yea, Those temps are most likely wrong. I never thought as MBM to be reliable hell, I never use software to monitor temps unless I want to see what a new hsf will give me. There is a chance you have the wrong mobo or something selected. DL everest and see if it says the same.

The only chance of your cpu being that hot is. Your HSF is not mounted properly. Or it is mad clogged with crap and dust. Other than that. software temps are never right. Your better off using a thermal device. It is ok however to use the sft to just see what your around.

well i just took the sink and fan off and put what lil bit of thermal paste that was left on the chip and remounted the hsf, and it dropped it to 71c.

That's still *really* hot. Everest or Speedfan are your friends. MBM is not :) Try them.

everest gets the information from the same place MBM does and is not more accurate. although the temp is wrong, it can still be used for comparing the changes due to cooling upgrade

hm o well. i think the heat it was making and hte hsf not bein on right was causing my comp to emergency shut off..i fixed the hsf and now it stays on all the time

well i took the hsf off again and scraped the heat paste off and puti t where it would actually do sumthin and it actually made it worse so i completely took every bit of thermal compound off the hsf and cpu and it dropped my temps 20c...im running idle at 40c and load at around 45-47c..still not low as it should be. but alot better than the 85c idle i started with.

actually no i didnt. its polished copper to cpu now...idc if it screws it up im getting a new computer here in a month so its not really anything important...buti ts only running at 34c idle and 40c load now..so o well...once again tho im not worried about my processor. ill get some thermal paste here sumtime tho when i get some time.
