After a break of 2 years from my last mod i have decided to build a new one based on the frame of the last one.
the frame looks like this:

i know, the work on the frame is not very professional , but have in mind that i am using hand tools and working on it from my home-office. i am planning to fill all the holes and spaces with a special putty just before painting.

my idea for the mod was a small cube (30cm X 30cm X 30cm) that will hold the PSU , MB , 2 HD and a cardreader (the DVD will be external with a IDE to USB adapter).

after a few hours of work i have reached this:

the cube has 2 parts:
the bottom part holds the PSU (the psu fan is on its bottom so i have cut an hole of the bottom paxyglass) as the secondary HD (also thinking of housing the cardreader on the bottom part).
the top parts holds the MB and the primary HD (as can be seen in this picture):

there are 2 120mm fans - one to insert cool air and one to take out warm air.

for now this all temp. next step is to check that all the parts are held ok to the frame, then take out all the parts , fill in the hols and craks, paint it and the last step is to build a clear plaxyglass cover.

it' coloring time :)
this weekend i will have a few hours to remove all the parts , fill in the holes , sand the entire case and color it black.

next thing is to sleeve all the cables in black sleeve. build a plaxyglass box to cover the frame , made from 5 panels. no screws will hold the box , it will slip over the frame.
make holes in the panels for fans, card-reader and IO ports.

hmm. its different. looks almost like a larger shuttle. with the layout and everything. keep it up!

Cool. A compact cube always appealed to me. Dont have the skill or tools to make my own haha
