My computer restarts when playing a game.

I play Need for Speed Undergound, and after aprox. 15-45 minutes my computer will randomly restart. Very annoying.
I just bought a SiS Xabre 400 video card. I am also running a 300 watt power supply with a athlon xp 1500 processor, and a ABIT KD7 motherboard. only 2 hard drives, and one cd burner.
I turned off XP's auto restart, and got a blue screen, and it said that sisgrv.dll was causing the restart (my video card's driver).
I asked the guy at best buy, and he said that because my version of NFSU is pirated that is probably the cause. I talked to another person, and he said that guy was a moron.
My 300 watt power supply is almost 3 years old, but the best buy guy told me that a 300 watt ps was all I would ever need for my CPU, while others have sworn to me that the cause of the problem is my power supply.

Any more advanced opinions on this problem?

I'll also add in that I'm running 768mb ddr ram.

This problem started with this game, and I have no problems when playing CounterStrike or Soldier of Fortune 2.

Sounds to me like a vid card driver issue, if you are not having problems with any other games.

Not familiar with that card myself, but I would suggest that their drivers are not as "mature" as the ATi or NVidia offerings.

Upgrade your vid drivers would be my first action... and if you have the latest, try going back one or two versions. You are going to have to play with this one to see what works.

Good luck!

I work at a bestbuy, slap that dude and tell him he's stupid. Then trouble shoot one item at a time. Yes, it definately sounds like a driver issue.....

i think you should dump that vid card and get an ati radeon!

update your video card driver and firmware and if that doesn't fix it, maybe check your system temps and such

Upgrade your videocard drivers and the sisgrv.dll problem may go away :D

You may find latest driver here.

It may be caused by overheating. Open your case and have a floor fan blow into your PC while you are playing the game. See if it locks up with the extra air flow or see if it takes longer before the lockup happens. If the floor fan fixes the problem, then you may want to try increasing the air flow in your case.

I can tell you that it's an issue with the KD7. I play Natural Selection and my last motherboard was a KD7 revision 1.0 and a Sapphire Atlantis 9500. A similar circumstance happened to me where after only 10 minutes, the computer would simply lock up. And to boot, when I could play, my frame rate simply dropped to 30-40 all the time.

After countless hours of reading, I learned that the early revisions didn't possess the KT400a chipset, just the default KT400 chipset, where there were problems.

Get a new motherboard and fast. I use the same video card in my Abit IC7 now and I experience no such problems. Newegg offers the NF7-s for a cheap price.
