I was reformatting my computer and it was creating a partition for ntfs or whatever, and while it was going it just shut down. i tried to turn the computer back on and it won't even make a sound for power going to it. any idea of what may have happened?
 
Do you have any stats on your computer? Expecially the power supply.

as rock mother board, amd athlon processor, asrock mother board...all i know about the power supply is it is 300 watt. it was plugged into a brand new power strip, but everything else plugged into that is working. you think it was my power supply that went out?..it is pretty old. 1 big fan that runs on it too. it was set to use 180 watts also.

Hopefully not. Like enginurd said, just try another power supply. If it is a power supply problem and you are going to buy another, make sure to read up on good name brands to buy.
