Here is what I have, or want to get in the near future...

AMD Athlon 3200+
Asus A7N8X-X motherboard
512MB PC3200 Crucial RAM
Asus 9700Pro Video Card
And all of that other stuff

Will this system play games like Halo, GTA Vice City, and UT2004, with all the setting turned up at medium resolutions(1024x768)?

i dunno, you cant expect us (forum members) to always have the same exact computer that you have or will have... if you want to know an answer, its probably not gonna be based on experience with the same parts you have... my guess is that it will play but you should probably just look at the minimum requirements on the game box and if ur systems better, then it should play

sorry if i sounded a bit harsh

But, everytime that I have gone off of the reccomended system requirements, the game has to have all of the settings turned down low in order to get just 50FPS. So that is why I'm asking this question. I'm just trying to find out what kind of computer you REALLY need to play todays games.

you didnt pick yourself a very overclockable computer did you? (3200+ and pc3200 crucial)

the computer will play the games you listed at high detail and medium-low (1024x768) resolution perfectly fine.

GTA and HALO will be fine to run on that system. the only thing that will most likely tax it the most IMO will be UT2k4.

UT2004 is hard on the video memory. The full version will be even more taxing on the memory, with large texture maps on huge playing fields. Unless you turn down the texture size/detail, you'll probably encounter unacceptable slowdowns.

The rest of those games should run great with that setup.

agreed. but only on the really large enviroments. but that can be perhaps corrected through drivers.

your system is fine. how you consider it "cheap" is beyond me.
