we went to frys today to pick him up a mobo + cpu, case, and maybe some drives. couldnt find any drives, but got a barton 2800+ (retail) + DFI Nforce2 board for 160 total, and a case for 110.

here's pics pics of the case.

pretty cool, eh? lol. his choice, not mine. i prefer the xaser towers. that one looks like something out of transformers... and now he's asking me to make him a transformers logo grill guard.

lol.


*sigh* now this means his comp will be better than mine... :(
 
Most of those new pre modded cases looks stupid, I like the front bezel on that case. Although I'm sure it'll get played out soon ... :/ Don't really care for the side panel much

i would have paid 70 bucks more and gotten the xaser. :p

doesnt matter to me, it fits him, whatever. it's a decent quality case.

actually, i took a look inside.

it's all riveted, rolled edges, screwless drive rails, etc. 420 watt power supply. (anyone ever heard of Orion?)

in other news, i was downstairs at the comp i built for my father posting to these forums. he walked in and yelled at me saying "I dont want any instant messenging software on this computer!". wtf?

he oughtta learn a little bit more about web design before he starts yelling... some people are just stupid when it comes to any sort of technology. :rolleyes:
 
Oh, and the reason i like the Xaser is not because of the styling, but the 7 fans, already installed, the placement of the io ports, the server style locking front (not just drive door, but the whole front panel) it would take some getting used to, but i kinda like it.

it's probably what i'll be putting my next machine in. when they come down in price, and i'm sick of this machine, i'll upgrade to a dual opteron system (w/ dual vid cards, via pci express...mmmmmm, 3 monitors...)
 
that case looks like complete sh*t, for that price, get an antec sonata.

Word.....When i saw it i was hoping to see some more pictures of what it turns into.....like a space ship or a race car.....Transformers, more then meets the eye.
 
It's better than that Minotaur thing at least. Just make sure he keeps it hidden from people who visit the house.
 
getting one of those cases is like modding out your POS chevy neon. Get something with class dude. Antec, Cooler Master, and Lian Li are good.
 
Say what you will, but he could of done worse.
IMHO, I think its a cool case. It also brings a new set of ideas for
modding.


Put some arms and legs on that baby, and use the Transformers
sound for windows startup!
