My brother lost his Compaq XP Home disc

But he still has the sticker on his case with the key. I downloaded a XP Home iso off the net and installed it using his key, and when I went to activate it after the install it said the key was invalid. What are his options? Will MS send him a new disc?

OEM COA keys won't activate online. You'll have to call MS and activate over the phone.

What manufacturer is your laptop from?

If that doesn't work, Compaq will ship you recovery discs for the cost of shipping. The only downside is it will come with all the pre-loaded crap and you will probably have to download and install sp2.
