After not messing with my computer for 4+ years (been messing with my car) I decided to pull the trigger on a new system over the thanksgiving break. I went over to a buddys house and saw COD4 and went home and started shopping :)

My old system was a althon tbird 1ghz @ 1.3, gefore 3 ti200 etc.. old old old.. so definitely needed to redo everything

So I ordered pretty much everything new.. this is the new setup

Intel Q6600
Abit IP35 Pro
4gb (4x1) crucial ballistix tracer (woo leds  haha)
Antec 900 case (more leds)
WD 320gb sata 7200 rpm drive
Thermalright Ultima-90 heatsink w/ panflow fan
Thermaltake 700w PSU

As for the video card I got on that dell MSI 8800GT deal but probably going to cancel and go with a evga 8800gt cause I want to play now! (have 2 weeks off work for christmas :) )

I got my case and cut a hole to run the power cables behind the mobo tray and painted the inside black. Looks so much better imo. Heres what I have so far. Still waiting on my dvd burner and video card (forgot to install the ram)

i need to route a few things better, but good enough for now.. I scratched the paint I know, I didn't prep it that well. Oh well, good enough. haha

Cant wait to get it all finished and start messing with it.

Edit: oops ment to put in the case section.. mod please move

that looks sick, pretty much the same system i am getting but it cannot fir the 120mm fan and heatsink?

Looks great!

What kind of tools did you use to cut the holes? Is that some sort of rubber gasket you have around the sharp edges?

I have the same case. I haven't assembled yet, but I can already foresee cabling becoming an issue. I'm installing a zalman 9500 as my cpu cooler, so i certainly don't want to catch a stray wire in the open fan.

I was able to fit the 120mm S-Flex

Nice setup by the way, that Ultima is the perfect fit for the 900.

yeah, nice job. you should probably run the 4 pin power connector around the mobo...
thats why i don't like IP35's in 900's, becasue the power connector is so far away from the PSU...

The Ultima90 fit perfect. I have maybe 1 cm between the edge of the side 120 fan and the hfs. I used a whole saw to cut the hole. I dont remember the size off hand. For the rubber trim around the hole I simply took a car vacuum hose and split it with a razor blade and put it around it. It works perfect, though not the prettiest.

My video card comes today, so will rearange a few things and see if i can route a few things better. Cant wait

I think I am stealing your design and painting my inside black. That is flat black? You computer is looking great.

Hi,

Looks nice in idea. (I am not mocking you either) However here are some quick and easy solutions to some of your sharp edge problems.

You stated the use of vacuum hose. Try rubber grommets. Measure the hole's diameter and work from there. You should be able to find them at a good auto parts store, hardware store or even online like McMaster Carr. You can also grommet the two holes on the back plate near the HDD racks.

As for wiring. I own a Version 1 of the A900. Nice case Wire management hell. I tamed my wire hell for right now but I need to reconfigure the wiring but no real time right now to do it. Try taking the 12V aux line and route it to the top of the board not across like what sound guy said.

Looks good so far. It will look great once some small touches are done. I like the inside. I might have to think about painting the insides when the weather is warmer and got my new toys in the shop. I see alot of modifications that can be done with the right hardware and knowledge. Dremel mods do not cut it for me :)

Later,

i put my system together yesterday and with the ip35 pro and ultra 120 + scythe 120mm it looks just like youre setup but i put the fan on the other side of the ultra120 so its pulling air through it and then quickly getting suck out the back it seems to be working ok

i didn't exactly mean in that case across the board, but it is what i did, because i couldn't be bothered getting 12V extenders...

Can you fit a fan onto the side of the case? Or is it just wire mesh, with no brackets?

have a look at this:

that is basically what i did for my side panel fan cable, not a very good job but you know...

(sorry about size, noob at photo hosting...)

I got my Antec 900 today...kind of miffed, the bottom three 5.25 bays aren't flush with the case on the left side...apparently however they installed the bottom fan keeps it jutting out no matter how much I push it back in. I haven't disassembled the thing yet, so maybe I can figure it out.

Is there any way to help cable management without making holes? I have no dremel/cutting tools. I don't care how bad it looks, I just don't want to impede airflow.
