my adventures into overclocking the C2D, E6300 + DS3

So, i finally sold my Pentium D 820 setup and got in all of my parts to build my Core 2 Duo setup. Here's what i'm running along with some pictures of my hardware and some screen captures. I'll explain my problems later. Thanks to RangerXLT8 from xtremesystems.org for helping me learn a little about oc-ing. my previous overclocking rig was a 550 at 4.046ghz so this is a huge jump for me.

Holy crap, I just built the same PC 2 days ago. On my DS3 Im @ 430*7 = 3.01GHz using 1.35v, and my 2GB G.skill (HZ) ram is @ 2.1Vdimm 1:1 ratio. Dont you just love the speed of a Core2Duo

yeah your memory is better than mine, i just did a round of orthos at 2.975ghz, the Core architecture is SICK. 19s SuperPi 1m.... my intel 550 3.4HT @4.046 did it in like 33s.

Im very impressed with an 183 dollar processor . This PC turned out faster then I hoped for..... That rarely ever happens.....

geeze - I am buying the EXACT same setup w/ possibly better ram...lol wow, i like that NB HS tho thats sweet! I'll have to look for it.

well with a little better mem you could push that easily probably 480 to 490 fsb my limiting factor is my meme which is corsair 6400 running at 980 for a fsb of 490 ds3 is a nice board for cheap but i upgraded to the dq6 which i am pleased with nice job love the cooler you chose went with the zalman 9500 my self good job though

i'm happy with what i've got, it's 8h Orthos stable at 2.975ghz and that's enough for me right now. it's faster than anything i've ever needed and multitasks like crazy, i might upgrade when i start looking to windows vista.
