My 9800 POS

Ok back in like August I purchased this:

Except it has 128MB of RAM and is made by Sapphire. My default clock speeds are 325|290 I managed to OC it to 375|325 using ATi Tool and my Artic Cooler HSF. I want to know if there is anything else I can do to it to make it better, maybe even open up the other 128 Bit.

(When I bought the card I failed to realize it was 128 Bit )

hmmm... thats technically a 9800 SE (NP).
9800pro = 8 pipe, 256bit (380/340);
9800NP (or just plaing 9800) = 8 pipe 256bit (325/290);
9800SE (though it is clocked at pro speeds), there are a few different types, 128bit 4 pipe, 128bit 8 pipe, and 256bit 4 pipes.
The NP's are clocked slower with the same number of pipes and bandwidth. The SE's are the shitty editions, with crippled bandwidth and pipes. I think these specs are right, this is just a FYI.


as for making it faster, try flashing it to a true 9800pro bios. Thats what I did to my Sapphire 9800NP (mine was clocked at 325/290, samsung memory, 8pipe, 256bit) and I got mine up to 400/400 stable. IMO, unless its water, cooling doesn't do crap for 9800's. I put on ramsinks and some aftermarket GPU cooler that didn't improve my overclocking at all

Actually I have 8 Pixel Piplines, I wouldn't have bought it if it was only 4, hell I had a Radeon 9200 128MB 128-Bit with 4 Pixel Pipelines before I bought the 98 . But how would I flash the bios?

Would flashing my bios break it up to 256 Bit? If not I really don't see a point to OCing my card.

I may be vague on the topic, but I guess if somehow you have the r360 core then an XT bios is appropriate, this speeds things up by running XT optimized shaders, not just overclocking

Just to let you know it is physically IMPOSSIBLE to unlock "more bits"

The card is configured and built on a 128bit bus and there is no HARD or SOFT mod that can upgrade your card to 256bit!!

I WOULD NOT FLASH THAT CARD WITH A PRO BIOS COULD BURN YOUR CARD UP (might wanna do that anyway and buy a 256bit card lol )
