so i can only get 100 x 44 4.4ghz at 1.35v. 2400mhz.

only things changed in bios. Rampage 5

any tips to squeeze 4.6 out?

even to get 4.2ghz i still have to have 1.34v for it to even boot into windows.

so far it appears stable anything i throw at it at 4.4 ghz 1.35v

That's not so good. Your voltage is way high for that core clock.

it just wont really do anything unless its 1.34v or higher.

Juice the CPU. Give it 1.5v-1.7v. You will need LN2, TEC, phase change, or a monster custom water loop to do this.

Yeah if you do some digging on OCN and OCUK there have been reports of positive experiences with the plan. Some have even reported that Intel will let you exchange your current chip for a new one if you tell them you don't like the current chip's performance. Apparently this is truly a "no questions asked" warranty per this post.

I can confirm most of the info based on what the Intel support guy told me when I called in. I guess the only hidden caveat is that you have to pay to ship the chip back to Intel, but the replacement will be shipped free of cost. Or if you need instant gratification, there's an overnight option that costs $25, but you get a "free" return shipping label.

Since I live like 40 minutes away from Intel's HQ, it makes no sense for me to use the overnight option, but I can see that being the more cost beneficial option for those living on the east coast.

Come to think of it, I should've asked the guy if I could just drop off the old chip and pick up the replacement in person. It'll save both me and Intel some money.

well i got the chip down to 4.4ghz on 1.3v 2800mhz 125x35 going to mess around see if its 100%stable.

i have a rampage 5 are there any tips maybe im misisng to get this to go higher

everything is on auto only changes are 125x35 or 100x44. 1.3v everything else is auto

I'm running an X79 rig/HM87 laptop so can't help you there. Although maybe try dialing ram back to 2400 and using the 100 strap instead?

By definition, if it runs properly @ stock, it's not a dud.

So I can get it to 4.6ghz in windows but still wont boot with anything higher than 4.4ghz

Has anyone used this before? I would fill dirty if I blew it up

Intel doesn't care about replacing CPUs because the actual mfg. cost is no where near what retail is. Blow it out, send it in, get a new one. No big deal. The people who administer the warranty aren't even Intel...they're contractors. The tuning plan is pretty much redundant to the existing warranty. Unless you somehow char the PCB there's no way of them telling if it was killed from overclocking.

I'd like to think if you went through the normal warranty process they're either gonna take their sweet time, or actually spend some time to determine the cause of death.

Intel's not stupid, they're fully aware of how the normal warranty could be abused in the manner you described. It'd be foolish of us to assume otherwise.

I explicitly asked if any electrical testing is done and was told no. Determining the cause of death of a single chip would trigger a logistical clusterf*k because Intel is like any other mega factory that works when stuff is done in-bulk. In the end the cost of replacing the chip no-questions is cheaper than the cost of actually determining what went wrong with it.

Yeah I don't know, I've had CS reps give me completely bogus answers on the phone before so I tend to be weary of things that sound too good to be true.

In any case if you feel a $25 or $30 gamble is worth it then all the more power to you.

Have any of you guys read what is on the website? It looks as if they know we are going to fry them, that is what this warranty is for unless I'm reading it wrong...

"The Performance Tuning Protection Plan is Intel offering you a chance to push the tuning of your boxed processor to a new level. The plan allows you a single processor replacement for your boxed processor, hassle-free, from our customer support. This is in addition to your standard 3 year warranty. If you are serious about overclocking, yet you want the safety of recovering from a setting gone wrong, then this is the plan for you."

A setting gone wrong? Why yes I had my voltage at 1.7 and fried the chip. Can I get that tracking # please? Seems legit to me.

Yes it's basically a no-question-asked warranty. They don't care how you fried your chip, as long as you didn't blow it up into 1000 little pieces since I'm pretty sure they want to see an intact IHS.

my 5930K is also a little bit dude.
I need 1.3V to run it @4.2GHz prime95, asus realbench and occt stable.

127.3BLCK, 125MHz strap, 33 multiplier, load line calibration to 8.
to get the 1.3V I use CPU vcore offset +0.250V and it goes up to 1.296V.
