My 244T arrived!

well now I am using the samsung 3251D hdtv as my display and still using the 7900gts. The native res for the display is 1366 x 768, but in the control panel I can only set it to 1360 x 768, looks the same. in BF2 the highest res I can pick is less than the native res of the monitor but thet whole screen gets filled, meaning it scales accordingly, there are NO black edges on either side. Same goes with GRAW, I have tried 800 x 600 and it just gets stretched to fill the whole screen. it was the same thing when I had the 244t using the same gfx. So you should be fine. I'm using the evga co superclock version but that shouldn't matter becase they're All the same card regardless of what brand you buy, just clocked differently. If samsung still had the 244t when I needed a replacement, I still wouldn't picked that, but I do love the size of my new display dispite having lower res.

That's unfortunate. I wanted the black borders. Stretching is no good, makes things fuzzy.

Did you try using the option in the nVidia control panel that I linked a screenshot to?

if you're looking for the border I dont know of any stock drivers that does this. maybe powerstrip, but would probably require a lot of tweaking IF even possible. others might wanna chime in. and btw, it does NOT look stretched and fuzzy or distorted whatsoever.

Did you look at the screenshot I posted? The drivers should do it. Can the original poster please comment?

Thanks.

Why would you say that?

In order to achieve a higher bandwidth dual link is needed, with that bandwidth you have enough room to raise the refresh rate above 60Hz. The monitor seems to support dual link so I see no reason why, using dual link won't allow you to raise your refresh.

Although, yes, I do understand what you're saying, technically.

The maximum frequency on a single-link is capped at 165 MHz (3.7 Gbit/s) and WUXGA (1920x1200 res) at 60Hz uses 154 MHz. So there's not enough room to bump up the refresh rate. However, you will notice that HDTV (at 1920x1080) at 85 Hz with GTF blanking uses 2x126MHz and needs dual-link. Now, seeing as how the 244T is claiming to be all HDTV supportive I would assume that using the increaced bandwidth from duallink you would be able to raise the refresh rate. Thus dual-link is not useless on the 244T.

LCDs are fixed at 60 Hz. It doesn't matter if you give them any extra bandwidth because they can't use it.

Also should mention that the 244T does not have Dual Link Input into the screen.

Im sending mine back to Samsung Tomorrow to either fix or replace under warranty. If I had my time again I probably would not bother with this screen as its now the 3rd one Ive had. (frist was a 243T).

Yes I've tested this feature and can confirm it. Using the beta 91.33 drivers from nvidia.

Just wondering, but what resolution did you go down to?

I recall you saying previously that the monitor's OSD had the option for "widescreen" or "4:3" modes, and I assume you set it to widescreen to test with less than native widescreen res (and black border) and 4:3 with less than 1600x1200 to test (with black border). But I'm wondering how it handled something like 1280x1024 as that isn't 4:3.

Sorry for the hassle, but I'm sure you can understand I just want to make sure the monitor works as I'm expecting since I'm about to drop a grand on it...
:(

*nervous*

Anitoch,

When I set set the option to centre the screen in the Nvidia contol panel and run a game in a lower res the black panels around the outside appear. Ive tried this and it seemed to work.

No probs.. yeah its going back to Samsung. Actually a courier is being sent out to pick it up which is even better :) Just see if I have to wait another 4 weeks to get it back!
