my 2.4C cant overclock that high

ive heard that this proc is supposed to be a great overclocker....unless im missing something..i can only get this proc at 2.7 and anything higher it just eather lcoks up restarts...i got it a 1.725volts and ram at 2.6volts what eles do i need to up?..i have the AGP and PCI at the Fixed position is that ok?..do i have to mess with ratios?...im pretty novice to the overclocking..but i can do it fine with my 3.06 i just thought that the extra FSB would be better then my stock 533fsb that my 3.06 does...

anyone have any ideas?..or is it just the proc?

That vcore is danger close to SNDS...

Fix AGP and PCI frequencies at 66/33, expansion cards don't like being overclocked.
 
your vcore is too high, and dont be afraid to go to 2.8v with your ram when you hit higher fsb's. i see your using an ic7, when i first got my 2.4c and ic7g setup it wouldnt overclock for shit, i could only hit 2.7ghz. i upgraded the bios to the latest version and now i can hit 3.4ghz. first thing to do is upgrade the bios to the latest version. 1.725v is too high for everyday usage. keep it under 1.7v. your using pc3200 ram so keep close to 200mhz just to be sure on the overclock.
 
If it is a P4 2.4C (Northwood), then I don't know that it would OC that high. From everything I have read, it is the Prescott 2.4A that OCs really well. So maybe you are thinking of another processor.

Can anyone second this?
 
Not all 2.4C's overclock well. The first one I got was stable at 3.2ghz. Now its at 3.4ghz
 
My 2.4C would overclock to 2.6GHz and that's all. On an Asus P4C800 Deluxe with ram that could do 227MHz FSB at stock voltages. Which was good for stock PC3200 Samsung modules.
