Whats the best pci card for around 100? Thanks

i only play CS and WCIII so i dont really need a badass card.

Get either a 8600gt or 2600xt. Either card is great for what you need and your price range.

Heh, he said PCI (unless he meant PCI-E). :p

I haven't seen either of those cards on PCI, but if they were, I would get one just for the fun of it! Because it's fun! :D

The best PCI cards I've ever seen are X1550 and X1300's.

There you go! If you need PCI-E, just post and I will try to help you. Good luck! ;)

I was assuming he meant pci-e, I don't remember ever seeing a 1600pro PCI card.

poke around the for sale forums i bet you can find a great 7 series or 1950pro for under a 100 bucks

if you stretch it to 150 bucks a 3850 would be a great bang for buck choice for what you need it for.

As somebody has stated, if you can stretch it to $150, you can get HD3850. That card is awesome, specially for the price that it sells at.

ok so im going to just get the 8600gt. I know it supports directx 10 but do i need to have it to use its full potential? Im running XP and isnt DX10 only for vista?

Good choice, the 3850 is an amazing mid-range card, the 8600 is kind of a waste.

quick question.

my system:

Intel Pentium D 805 Smithfield 2.66GHz @ 3.1ghz
ASRock 775Dual-VSTA LGA 775
Win XP
1 gig of ram dual channel

would my CPU be a bottleneck or anything if i get the HD3850?

Good, glad to see you spent a few more for a very quick card (3850). For the price the 3850 is really nice.

ehh pentium D is the yuck but it should be ok still. if your mobo supprots it i would grab a newer intel chip in the future.

upon further looking it does appear to support some C2D chips.

could sell your pentium d on the forums or such get 50 bucks for it and buy somthing like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116037 overclock i tup to 2.5 or so and i bet you notice a good difference in overall performance.

iam a AMD guy mostly but i'm pretty sure even though those allendales are called pentium they are c2d at the heart.
