Me and my friend are painting our MX700 mouses. (I have already read and posted in the MX700 Paintjob thread so dont tell me to go there, no one answered)

we messed up on the primor. it ran. so i let it dry and i sanded it. then i painted it with no primor. then after it dried i noticed sand lines in it. so today i sanded again with some 180. now the sand lines are a lot finer. how do i go about getting rid of the sand lines? should i primor i? should i sand with finer grit?

You need some 1000+ grit wet sand paper. 150 grit is WAY WAY WAY to coarse of sand paper to be using on a paint job. I would probably suggest sanding all the way back down to the plastic, then use some 600+ grit paper on the plastic to smooth it out a little more, then prime, and use 1200 grit paper on each coat afterwards.

Wet sanding is the key, make sure you have "wet sand" paper. (dont' believe you can get anything in that fine of grit without it being "wet sand", but just thought i'd make it clear).

first of all you should NEVER sand with anything below 600 grit. that even then is the bare minimum if you want a good paint job. so i would suggest to start the project from scratch. sand it down till it is even and smooth, prime 2 coats, sand with 2000grit, yes i have very high standards, 3-4 coats paint, clear coats maybe 2 coats, sand with 2500 grit, then apply some rubbing compound or scratch remover for a mirror finish

Why would you sand a perfectly flat surface with 150grit?

A flat surface should start at 600grit. Only if it is really rough should you ever do anything below that.

Primer will fill in any marks from 220 grit and higher........

if you had high standards you'd know that there is no noticeable diff between 2000 and 2500. You'd also tell him to use wax and grease remover before painting anything. You'd ALSO tell him to WETSAND and not dry sand anything. duhr.

edit: you'd also get an automotive paint job if you had starndards at all :D

that is what i am planning on using is carpaint from autozone. i painted the inside of my case with a metalic car paint. for this one i was going to use somthing smoother. but also in the other mx700 paint thread where he painted his mouse red he used a certain kind of paint that i cant seem to find in blue. i live in anaheim california usa i checked walmart home depot. we are going to check a paint shop but where else could i find that paint. here is the link to the thread http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=765336

nonononono. Carpaint and automotive paint are two totally different things.

Spray paint (paint is a spray can) is what you are buying.

I suggested having an automotive paint job done (using a paintgun+compressor). Makes a totally different finish. Example: look at the reflection.........thats a real paint job.

ok i sanded with a mouse sander with some 320 gritt then i mouse sanded with some wet dry 600 gritt then i hand sanded wet with 600 gritt. it took all of the old blue paint off and took off the silver paint(paint it came with) now its white and very smoothe with no sand lines. now im trying to figure out what color to paint. the white on black looks pretty sweet but the blue looks pretty cool to.
