Hi Guys,

I recently purchased my MX500 and besides a flaw im having I love it.

For some reason, it will move down on it's own, very gradually. I've tried various surfaces, and even when holding the mouse well away from any surface the cursor continues to move down in small stages.

I've checked underneath and cleaned it to be sure, no difference

Any ideas?

Windows XP, P4 2.6, Mouseware 9.76
 
Are you giving the mouse enough slack?

I doubt your desk is at an angle so that it will move by itself if the cord isnt causing it.
 
Plenty of slack, and it's moving down not up, it's wierd.

Even if I turn it upside down, it still does it..
 
its just cuz u have a crappy slanted desk. buy a cloth mousepad or somethin if its bugging you.

he turns it upside down, it still does it. How could that be because of a slanted desk.

Maybe go to logitechs site and get the newest mouseware, see if that help at all:confused:
 
are you sure you dont have a black hole near you tilting the center of gravity? black holes are nasty things you know, and you oughta get something done about it before termites get into it.
 
While I appreciate you taking your time to reply James, please read my post before you post such a comment. And for future reference, I don't have a crappy desk.

Anyway, I found the source of the problem, a secondary mouse was plugged into the PS/2 slot, I didn't know where the mouse was but it was hidden in one of the lower shelves causing it to move slightly.

It's all cleared up. Thanks.

so the CURSOR was moving and not the actual MOUSE??

maybe next time tell us what the problem is before assuming we can fix it?

Anyways, my MX500 sometimes gets the "jitters", like the cursor will jump up and down very little. I think it has to do with the surface, maybe dust in your laser thing. There was some in mine at least.
