I'm sure this has been asked more than enough times, but everywhere I've looked I hear people say that the MX1000 is great except for the lag when they pick up the mouse and set it back down. I hear other people that say they don't experience that problem. What is the real deal here?

I'm pretty set on buying the MX1000 over the Diamondback, but I'm not sure if I want the MX1000 if there is this 'lag' people speak of. But wireless would be really nice...

Someone care to give me the lowdown?

from what i understand, the lag is from the laser resetting itself after you pick it up. wireless is perfectly fine. in fact, most wireless mice technology has pretty much been perfected.

the only way to prevent this 'lag' is to not pick up the mouse.

i personally opted not to buy the MX1000 because it was too small for my hands. im a very big boy, and the logitech mice just arent as comfortable as the kensington optical pro that i bought. but every man to his own.

The MX510 is a nice mouse! If ur looking for a gaming mouse check out the MX510 & MX518 there both aimed towards gamers.

Lite, wired, Optical mice such as the razor or the MX510 / 518 are where its at for gaming. Accually for anything. For whatever reason, I prefer a wired mouse, hands down.

Just go with the 510. I have a 510 and my friend got a new 1000 and I tried his expecting it to be way better, but the lag when you pick it up and set it down is so annoying, plus it's a ton of money for a mouse. I love my 510

I have a 1000, I dont notice any lag at all picking up the mouse and putting it down. Someone commented about a lighter mouse being better, I disagree, especially with the 1000. The 1000 does take a lot of getting used to however because it is really sensitive. I had to turn my CS sensitivity down from 12 to 3 to make it playable and feel the same as with my old mx300.

I would look at the mx518 b/c the on the fly sensitivity sounds really cool.

I'd buy the Razer diamondback or the MX510, but just wireless alone is keeping me from getting it, and the fact that there are so many people saying there is pickup lag, and so many that say there isn't, I'm kind of keeping myself from buying anything. Right now I just want to know what the MX1000 owners think about the mouse.

mx1000 user here

No pickup lag for myself on mine. I absolutely love this mouse. Of course, I am not too weak for it's weight. Works great and would recomend one to anyone. Is it better than all other mice? I have no idea since I didn't waste my time buying all of them to try out.

ok, the "lag" people are talking about is with the last generation mice, which when you pick it up the laser shuts off. When you put it back down it takes a while for the laser to turn back on, resulting in lag.
With the new generation of mx1000 (last 4 months) there is no lag, the mx1000's laser stays on when it's picked off ground.
To see what version you have pick it up, and look into the sensor at an angle and move the mouse around. If after 20 seconds you cannot see the laser, you do not have the new version. If you do see the laser you have the new version and there is no lag

Thanks for enlightening me on this. I heard that Logitech knew of the problem and were fixing it, but I wasn't sure when they knew of the problem, and when they would fix it. So it's pretty safe to say that I could buy this from newegg today and get myself the newer generation MX1000?

doooods STOP GIVING YOUR OPINION ON OTHER MICE WHEN THE GUY JUST WANT OPINION ON THE MX1000!!! (no offense or anything)

but yah, mx1000 is a great mouse. i guess there is a TINY bit of lag when you pick it up (as compared to other mice), but its really not noticeable.

yuppers. go right ahead :D

MX1000 owner as well here.

When I bought mine I was building a PC, so I took it to work. It did so many things that the work provided mice couldn't do. Now that its at home, I fell like I want to buy a second one for work now. All that programability goodness. As for gaming, all I have played so far have been MMOs, not a single problem. I never noticed the "lag" people have mentioned either.

My only gripe however is this. Logitech refuses to provide on-the-fly application specific keystroke programability. So when using office and basic Windows stuff you have to program it one way, then go back and reprogram the mouse for gaming. I sent a letter asking about this feature and was told it was not going to happen. And this isn't just for the MX1000 but for all of their mice. Wake up Logitech, this is a very important feature.

well we didnt ask for your comment telling us to stop giving are opinions....PSSST it works both ways. ;)

MX1000 is working well for me (FPS' - RTS' - etc), use it combo'd with a Ratpad

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will buy the MX1000 provided that newegg will allow for a refund in the case that I am not satisfied. If not... then I will have to take a gamble :D

theres only 100 threads about this. for the last fucking time, yes its great for gaming. theres no lag whatsovever. yes use it for gaming ;)

isnt searching fun and games for the whole family.....but none the less, i like my mx1000 a lot.

I noticed the "lag" when I began using the MX1000. Then I realized that the MX1000 is very sensitive and I had to decrease the sensitivity on all of my games. Then it wasn't an issue. This mouse feels better than any other mouse I've ever used.

I love my MX1000. One thing that bugs me that I noticed recently is that it seems a little jumpy and deviates from where I want it to go just a little (1mm-ish). Anyone know about this occurence? Perhaps my mousepad sucks or I have the sensitivity on too high.

Yeah I know what you are talking about, it sometimes does not like to track. The best solution is to use the PS/2 adaptor instead of the USB plug. That solved my issue. Hopefully they will provide a driver update that will resolve the issue. Happened on two PCs. So it's some weird communication issue with the USB controller.

never had a single lag issue....works great and is more comfy than any mouse to date

No
Ihmo MX1000 is good for office work but not for gaming.
If you want a gaming MX get a MX518 or MX510. I use MX510 + Icemat 2nd ed (also an important thing for gaming) a very cool mouse far gaming.

Or Diamondback everyone seem to forget about the Razer mouses. Me included before it was like should I get Ms or Logitech, Those Razer looks to extreme lol

MX1000 is a great mouse. Just as good as any wired mouse, just check the reviews. The whole pickup lag thing has been fixed for a while, but you'll notice people still try to bring that up to hate on the mouse.

You might want to check your local Sams club. Someone mentioned in another thread that they had it for $49.00 without any rebates. That's a damn good deal.

The MX1000 rocks. Went from a 510 to it a few months ago. The sensor is postitioned differently on it so it took a few days to get used to it gaming, but no big deal. Play as well with it as I did with a wired mouse. Screw taping a wire. Half these dudes aren't good enough players for any of these mice to make a difference. You either own or you don't.

Most of the guys who know the MX1000 have never even touched one. But you'll never get them to admit it. I've been a gamer for 15 years, and this is the best mouse I've ever used. People like to see "Gaming" on the box of their mouse before they're happy.

Mx1000 is great for gaming- helped me a lot. No lag, nothing. Maybe it's newer models, maybe newer drivers.

Only people you'll hear say it isnt are those who dont have it.

Well, and the retarded. By why the hell would i even have to say that part?

Maybe it´s a matter of personal opinion? I don´t like the MX1000 because it´s even heavier and pretty much the same shape than the MX510 which I also don´t like ;).

And the pick up lag have hard time to believe that has never been true even if it has been fixed. So how then can you question people who don´t like it tell it?

I have never seen a uniserval one mouse fits all yet. Hands and personal preferences are too different for that to be possible to create a mouse everyone likes.

The thing you have to understand about the lag is that many people dont even experience. Im a real pyscho about precision at times and my mouse keeps tracking when i pick it up and then put it back down. Only time there is lag is when mouse goes into powersave mode after like 30 minutes or whatever.

Personally i kinda like the shape and weight of my mouse now-- the first while of having it, i didnt. But now im very used to it, and can't use other mice.

And they *do* make mice without any real contour or hand alignment.
