hey ive had an MX1000 since about the day it came out, it always worked fine. I went on a rafting trip this weekend for 4 days came back and turned my computer on, and the mouse doesnt work. I have no other computer to test the mouse on but the bios doesnt see any mouse attached. I also dont have another USB mouse, but my other USB devices work fine, leading me to believe that the USB on the mobo is not the problem...anyone know of anything else i can do before i have to buy a new mouse and try to RMA this mouse? thanks.

I assume you've tried unplugging it and putting it in a different USB port? I had an MX700 once and it used to be a little touchy on recharging as well, and sometimes I thought it was recharging in the cradle but in reality it was slightly tilted, meaning it was just continually wasting batteries. Perhaps this happened to you and it simply needs to be recharged?

Did you try reaseating the USB connector? Did you try a different port? How does the BIOS not see a mouse attached (does it give an error at POST)?

Ok, the stupid, obvious question... have you tried recharging the mouse? Maybe it just ran out of juice over the 4 days?

Also, did you check to make sure the switch on the bottom of the mouse is in the on position?

1. The mouse is fully charged.
2. I tried to unplug and replug it into the same slot
3. I tried all 4 USB slots on the mobo.

WTF? do i need to RMA?

you can send it to me and i'll test it out on my computer for ya.... :D

seriously though, sounds like it somehow just went defective. a different mouse would really isolate the problem. just buy the cheapest usb mouse you can find. If the new mouse doesn't work, then it's not the MX1000. If the new mouse works fine, then you can send the MX1000 back in (or to me...) and then you already have a spare mouse!!!! It's fool proof I tell you!!!

yea thats actually my plan of action...i just cant make it to compusa till tomorrow. I'll let yall know how it goes.

well my first question is why'd you take your mouse on a rafting trip? :p

have you tried using a USB to PS2 converter or does the MX1000 need USB?
cause I have the MX Duo and the manuals recommend to use the PS2 connections over USB. No friggin idea why, I'd have thought the extra bandwidth would be better but oh well :p

Good luck in your debugging/RMAing

Peace

Because the mouse needs to see the countryside as well? :D

I don't remember... but are the batteries in the mouse replaceable? IF so, try a different set of 'em?

no, the batteries are not replaceable and the MX1000 has a little charge display and reads fully charged.

i think im just gonna head over to compusa and RMA that biatch.

so i get home from work and fire up my computer to do a little keyboard computing...and the fucking mouse just works fine. WTF? maybe one of the neighbors was using some crazy electrical thing...who knows. well it works great now so there you go.

now im scared to reboot.

hanks for all the help.

Mine did the exact same thing to me about 6 months ago. I just bought another mouse.

Hmm, mebbe i'll dig it out and see it works now. (doubtful considering how far I tossed it)

Lets not!

Good way to set yourself up there, bro. :) Opinions like that should be kept to yourself, IMHO.
