MX-700 Modding Question

I was just curious as to if anyone has done any modding other than the amaizing paint jobs I have seen to the MX-700. I have my mouse apart to fix up the paint problem in the palm area and thought maybe I could add a few white LEDs to the front where the weight would be in the MX-500s, and a couple in the rear, but was wondering how much strain it would put on the battery (cutting down life), and how I should go about hooking them up. Any help would be apreciated.

LEDs dont use up a lotta power... you just connect them with like a 100ohm resistor on the 5v coming into the mouse and ground it... however, you're using the MX-700 which is cordless and uses batteries... at this point, it really depends on when you want the light to go on... do you want it on at all times as long as the battery has power?... or do you want it on only when your not charging?...etc

i m guessing rechargeable batteries are 1.2v and theres two so you have 2.4 volts of power so you could power LEDs without resistors but i m not sure about it... i can run LEDs on 3 volts without resistors so i guess its ok..... just wire it to the battery compartment and solder or twist wires around where the battery terminals are... theres two sides to the battery compartment, solder it to the side where its not the batteries are not connected... ive done lotsa mouse mods so i do know my stuff.. if you want, you can IM me at aim for more help... i m bladderoverclock

Standard AA are 1.5v each, I think AAA are too.
yea...normal single use batteries are always 1.5v

but most rechargeables AA or AAA are usually 1.2v

soooo... your working with 2.4 volts. You might consider that the LEDs you plan on using in your little project even light up with that voltage. White and Blue are going to be the tough ones depending on the actual LEds
