mx 420 boost?

I have this(GF (PNY) MX 420 pci 64MB in an old machine and its running like crap on world of warcaft..(no aa or af, 1024x768, all game details at lowest) I know its a crap card but it still seems to be underpreforming to me.

So are there any good sets of drivers I should use? basically anything for more perfomance.. OCing dosnt help much

Dude, there is no way that will run anything that new at that res even playbly, turn it down to 800x600 and turn off all the options and you might get it ok, as fr as drivers, you can try the omega drivers, but i doubt theyll do a great deal for you. Mx420 is now what, 3.5/4 generations old.

You have to play at 800x600, shit...maybe even 640x



I speak from experiance, even old games made my old MX440 cry at 1024 resolution.


and its PCI to boot, so that makes the hurting even more so.

lol guessed as much, im gonna turn it down to 800x600, and use the 45.xx's, I added a fan might as well OC the hell outaa it and see what I can get

You aren't giving WoW justice by playing it on a POS like that. My kid's comp is better than that -laff. Seriously even buying a $60 or so dollar video card will help you out.

From the looks of it, you are definately in time for an upgrade. The only thing I'd keep is the Maxtor drive, everything else sell on Fleabay for $60 or so and buy urself a video card at least. Then spend another $200 to a cheap ass system together.

dang dude ...lol if I could, I would sell you my download computer....for 300 or so...

it's an emachine, athlon xp 3200+, 512mb ram, onboard soundstorm, onboard geforce 4 mx440 (yah I know), it even has an agp 8x slot, dvd burner, cd drive blah blah blah, 160gig harddrive hehe. My bro paid 600 plus tax for it hehe..and I will let it go for 300+shipping if my parents would let me but O well.

at 800x600x16bit wow should run fine on an mx440 with that machine, make sure if ur playing on that run 16bit colour, those budget cards die at 32bit colour

Jaton is a good company IMHO.


My MX440 was from them, and it overclocked like a BEAST. I don't remember the exact numbers, but I think I got over 100Mhz on the core and over 100Mhz on the ram and she could still go further if I bothered to replace the stock heatsink.
