MX-2 question

I just bought HR-03 GT heatsink for my 8800GT graphic card and put MX-2 thermal grease.

This is the first time i used mx-2.

When I first pushed it, a huge gunk(?) of white liquid came out.

That was just testing :)

after that, I just used it on my GPU chip and installed the heasink.

After I was cleaning my room, I was pushing mx-2 little amount just for fun.

And then suddenly, I realize that mx-2 color is supposed to be silver.

The huge gunk I saw earlier and the little amount I used on my chipset was definitely white.

Was I supposed to squeez it out until I see silver colored MX-2?

I had big improvement in terms of temerature when I switched from stock cooler to HR-03GT with MX-2 but I don't know if that improvement is solely depending on HR-03GT since MX-2 that I used could've been nothing but white liquid whatever that is.

So again, my question is, was I not supposed to use the white liquid of mx-2? I can't even believe it had white and silver in the same tube.

when I got my MX2 it did the same thng. first push it came out all liquid-y

mine is definately silver looking and I dont see any white.

that white you're talking about is basically oil separating from the actual paste material. it happens to all TMIs over time. i would reapply that paste, making sure that it's silver and mixed properly.
