there is a program that is accepted as giving an accurate result - realtemp . the fellow who wrote it tested for tmax of the 45nm chips by running his cpu bare and using an ir or laser (?) thermometer.

Thanks, ordered it from mwave. Too bad they don't sell the Thermalright Ultra-120 there. Ended up getting a Xigmatec achellles. Then realized after placing the order that it mounts with a push pin, so went to look for a bolt through kit at Sidewinder and ended up buying a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme Black Anniversary Edition as well as a bolt through kit for the Xigmatec . Not a bad deal, mwave E8500 + the Xigmatec H/S and next day air to hawaii, was $10 less then the same exact items at newegg with 2 day shipping.
