Just finished the single player campaign on hardened. I gotta say, it totally fucking rocked. Every level was perfect, they must have play tested the shit out of this game. I don't want to give away any spoilers so I'll just say the my favorite levels were the ones stateside. I was not expecting to be as blown away by the graphics as I was. It looks phenomenal. Texturing and lighting were superb and Infinityward actually got their animations 100% this time. So anyway, I'm very happy. What do you guys think? (played it on X360)

I only played the first couple of missions and enjoying it. I'm playing on hardened as well and got rocked a lot in Rio. I truly was surrounded by the AI.

oh yeah, Rio was a bitch. You have to keep moving otherwise they constantly flank you.

Holy shit.... I just woke up and you've beaten it already? Doesn't make me want to buy it. If it's that short i'm just going to rent it. Did it release today or yesterday?

Players I know are saying about 6 hours... though they're all pretty damn good at FPS games.

Wow..... Totally passing on this one til its 20 bucks.

A guy on my friends list is about 5 hours in on hardened, and said is half way done. 11 hours is the norm these days for SP. I have about 220 hours in COD WaW online, so I make up for it there :)

Don't judge a game solely on its single player campaign, just like I like to say don't judge a game solely on the multiplayer. Each person's individual experience is always different, but I am definitely gonna play the crap out of this game.:D

Started the campaign on Veteran and I'm already in Rio after about an hour of play or so, maybe less.

I'm pretty much steamrolling it, I've only died a couple times. They REALLY watered down Veteran, no more infinite spawns, invisible lines, or nade spamming. Although I was starting to get flanked a bit in the Rio level, on the maze part. (You'll know what I'm talking about). And people have said that's arguably the hardest part of the game. *Shrug*

Campaign is a plus, I buy this game for MP.

But yeah, Veteran on MW2 is like Hardened on CoD4.

I might have to start over....

Veteran mode on COD WaW was frustrating with the nade spamming and infinite spawns. I basically ducked my way through the game.

But you have to agree, that Veteran on CoD4 was like uberleet hax Legendary freakin hardcore enemies-have-x-ray-vision difficulty. I can't tell you how many times I died. lost count at 128 I think.

WaW was harder on Vet for me. CoD4 was mostly manageable except for a few parts of the game where I got stuck on long periods of time. My hardest was definitely that damn hallway at the end of the game.

Totally random, but how far in the game is the Chernobyl level in MW1? I finished that level and then I think I remember a nuke going off in a desert or something and that's where I stopped playing for some reason. Thinking of picking up MW1 again if it wasn't too far in

MW2 is getting hammered in buyer reviews on Amazon. The main complaint seems to be that it's far too expensive for way too short of an SP experience. It'll be interesting to see if this poor reception causes rapid price drops like we saw with Wolfenstein several months ago.

Anyone complaining on the length of the campaign doesn't have their valuation for the game straight. 20% of the $60 is for the campaign, the remaining 80% value goes to the online play. If you use that, it's well worth the purchase, IMHO.

$12 of a $60 game is for SP? That's an easy way to piss off a lot customers.

I'm an SP only guy, but not for $60. MW1 was my favorite game of 2007, but I waited 'til it hit $35 before buying it.

If you are just in it for the single player this makes sense -- the game only took most of my friends 5-6 hours.

I pick up my copy today after work, so well see! :)

I wouldn't have a problem with SP going by the wayside or eliminated, as I am a multiplayer man. However, I know that others want SP games, so I hope they continue to do both for the sake of others.

The price isn't dropping for a looooong time. this game will sell regardless how short the SP is.

haha finally someone who actually owns the game. I don't really care about how the length of SP compared to the price. It's a new game, it's going to be $60. I beat it in about 7 1/2 hours. The experience was compelling and worth it too me. The real legs of the game are going to be the Spec-ops missions and the multi.

*POSSIBLE MINUTE SPOILER* am I the only one that thinks single player mode is fucking shite? yer the graphics are great, the animation is great. the russian shopping mall was totally uneccessary, sick and twisted, the amount of people fleeing every 30 seconds just wouldn't happen, infact it was so bad I didn't even pull the trigger, I guess this was what the disclaimers were for!it would have been ok if it was waves of the enemy! . I know its the same series but I feel like I'm playing cod4 single player all over again. I definately would pay full price for this just for the single player. oh and the first level when the action kicks in, I couldn't see what the fuck was going on for most of it, it felt like 10min of blind fire

i beat the SP on normal mode in like 6 hours :)

said it was 9, but i kinda rushed through.

my favorite, but most frustrating map was the one in Russia in the ski resort house where you have to fight off wave after wave of enemies.

I've been enjoying the SP so far. I loved the SP in the first and the second seems to be just as good so far.

I really don't mind the campaign playing more like an action packed summer blockbuster flick. Especially with Spec Ops maps!? 25 co-op maps! I spent 2 hours last playing the first 4 of those as each time my friend and I were like, "we can do better than that! Lets try that one again". The Sniper Fi mission rocks.

On the final act now on veteran difficulty. This is by far and bar none the easiest veteran mode CoD there has been. I'm just tearing through it with only a few parts on each map that I die.

*SPOILER*

My hardest spot so far was the level where the enemies use the smoke screen and you have to recue the hostages. I probably died about 10 times, but finally got through.

Does anyone know which level the ski house is on? I guess that's the hardest spot. Just want to be ready for it.

the "ski house" is the second to last level I believe. It's when the team splits up to to check different potential safe houses. I really didn't have much trouble with this one. They give you claymores to cover entrances and as long as you remain in the house enemies will just funnel through certain areas. I did die a bit, but not anymore than the Favela or those jerks in the smoke on the oil-rig.

I must really suck at SP. I know I am bad at multi player but I do not think I can finish the SP in 6-8 hours.

Yeah, after beating it the same night I bought it, I'm wondering if the single player is a bit too short.

On one hand, the reason I kept playing it was because I wanted to know what was going to happen next and in this regard SP rocks.

On the other hand, I beat it starting at 10pm and ending at 4am--but that was with eating breaks and certainly not a straight play through.

The Story worked well, but it is so damn short. Also, it seemed a bit forced SPOILER ALERT when America was invaded. I was like, what? Wtf? But besides that the narrative seemed to flow alright.

But again, it's so damn short. Halo ODST took me longer to complete than MW2.

Ugh, I foolishly bought this for my 360 after all the PC drama...I'm starting to kick myself. I'm a mouse and keyboard man, and the 360 draw distances are starting to annoy/murder me constantly... I'm on the first mission of act 2, and I'm taking fire from enemies that aren't even generated yet....

IIRC, mission 1 of Act 2 is in the blowing snow...where it's near impossible to see the enemy because of the blowing snow.

I just finished it on Veteran difficulty. Easiest CoD yet, which was kinda disappointing but it was on hell of a ride.
