I saw a thread similar to this about the DS, so I figured why not have one with PSP games. Here are some of my personal favorites

Race Driver 2006
Ace Combat X
Grand Theft Auto, VCS
Syphon Filter

if you get into home brew there are a ton of options and the whole psx library :)

Crisis core and the FF1 and FF2 remakes are gona be out soon as well.

Valkyrie Profile is a good port for PS1

Jeanne d'Arc looks like it will surpass the greatness of FFT it looks good so far and it's made by Level 5 and they are crazy badass. Just from the images it looks like FFT mixed with Fire emblem mixed with old school shining force and a little bit of barney's quest; and thats a good thing.

Castlevania and Aedis Eclipse looks promising as well.

Heh, yup.

PSP games:
Daxter
Ratchet and Clank
Wipeout Pure (and soon to be the new one)
GTA Vice City
Lumines I/II
Puzzle Quest (I really like this game and it plays very well on the PSP)
Tekken DR
Virtua Tennis 3
Burnout Dominator
DJ Max 2
Megaman Mav Hunter
+ others which I'm too lazy to list.

Puzzle Quest. I will kill you if you take me away from it gartwarawrawr. Yeah, pretty goddamn addictive.

Ace Combat X, definitely...
Legend of Heroes series if you're into RPGs, old school stuff with some very nice textures and sprites. Translations (for the first one anyways) are funnier than the game.
Lumines/II AHHHH ADDICTIVE PUZZLE GAMEs. *foams*
GTAs
Ratchet & Clank
Daxter - Naughty dog FTMFW.
Metal Slug Anthology - co-op play over Ad-Hoc wifi. Pretty bad-ass in lecture halls and infintely more interesting that history.
Gradius Collection - Gradius V was hard as balls on the PS2. Pick this if you want incredibly frustrating but still fun SHUMP action on the go. Also does co-op I think...

PS1 games also. A grey area involving custom firmware, but honestly, Sony stopped making money on PS1 games back when Carrot Top was still funny. I don't see anything wrong with playing my copy of Suikoden 2 on the go!

I've been thinking of trying to convert my Gran Turismo 1 & 2 discs to work on my PSP. Something to hold me over till Gran Turismo mobile, I'm getting close to finishing Race Driver 2006.

My favourites are:

Gurumin
Metal Slug Anthology
Parodius Collection
Gradius Collection
Taiko no Tatsujin
Tales of Eternia

Personal favorites........

Lumines 1&2
Puzzle Bobble Pocket & Ultra Puzzle Bobble Pocket
Mercury Meltdown
Gunpey
Every Extend Extra
Wipeout Pure
Gradius Collection
Twinbee Portable
Salamander Portable
Parodius Portable
Sengoku Cannon
Star Soldier
Bubble Bobble Evolution
Sonic Rivals
Metal Slug Anthology

Lumines, nuff said.

I got Gran Turismo 2 down to 532mb, looks very nice on PSP's screen compared to TV.

I can tell you from experience they work perfectly :)

Can't forget Pirates!

Slightly OT, but did Sony ever fix the ghosting issues with the PSP's screen?

thats probably a hardware thing.

there are pretty firm rumors floating around of a PSP v.2 coming out sometime sort of soon so it may have a better screen.

I put Gran Turismo 2 Simulation on my PSP last night, but I cannot load saved games. Oh well, I'll just use the arcade disc. Still great to finally have Gran Turismo on my PSP.

But, after playing Gran Turismo 4 for so long, 1 & 2 seem to be lacking in content. But I'll take whatever I can get.

Puzzle Quest is the best thing since sliced bread. My wife can't put down the DS version, and the PSP version is much better. :)

Otherwise, my own favorites are Lego Star Wars II, Sid Meier's Pirates!, Tekken, Field Commander, Metal Gear Ac!d 1 & 2, and MGS:pO.

I really enjoyed Dungeon Siege for the PSP. Also Blade Dancer is pretty good. Race Driver 2006 is pretty sweet. Currently Killzone is in my PSP and I am thoroughly enjoying that. Also can't forget Ultimate Ghost and Goblins.

I actually had a few dreams about Puzzle Quest... I really need to stop playing before I go to bed. :( It's so fun though.

It's pretty much the best Turn-Based Strat game imo

Agreed, I love Adanced Wars but couldn't get into Field Commander.

What other PS1 games are worth trying? I'm going to convert the arcade disc of GT2 when I get home today.

Portable RPGs? Xenogears? FFs? Chrono Cross? Suikoden? Grandia? Star Ocean!?!

Also, portable Einhander!

And portable Castlevania! And portable NES/SNES! So many things.

Pirates on the psp is fun, but the only thing i get annoyed at is all the pirate hunters that gang up on you all the time. (More annoying on the higher levels and when you get a large bounty on your head) That said, it IS a fun game. I play hot shots golf and burnout pretty much at work when i have time.
May get the sims 2 pets game just as another diversion tho.

Some of my favorites are:

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
Breath of Fire III (EU import)
Daxter
Burnout Legends
Exit
Field Commander
Guilty Gear Judgement
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Gradius Collection
Gitaroo Man Lives!
Metal Slug Anthology
Tales of Eternia (EU import)
Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins
Wipeout Pure
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
Mega Man Powered Up
Lumines
Every Extend Extra
Loco Roco
Darkstalkers Chronicle

Just a heads-up - not all PS1 games actually work properly in the emulator. A lot of them do, but others still have niggling bugs and crashes. It should get better over time.

Well, Gran Turismo 1&2 are the only PS1 games I have, and they're the only PS1 games I care to play. Luckily for me both of them run great. I thought not having a proper L2&R2 would be a problem, but its not.

Hehe, not a big RPG fan eh?

I'd think Ace Combat 3 would be hella fun. Maybe the original MGS, Syphon Filter...

I don't really remember PSX games that well TBH, I never really owned all that many PS1 games compared to PS2.

No, not in the least bit.

With each of those games, there already is a version that is much better for the PSP. Ace Combat X and Syphon Filter are two of my favorite games on the PSP.

Yeah, Ace Combat X is pretty bad-ass, I loef it. A great translation to the portable platform.

You might wanna check out the new After Burner that came out. Reviews say its kinda short, but its like a portable version of the bad-ass arcade cabinet, and multiplayer's supposedly pretty good.

Resident Evil/Silent Hill mayhaps?

Initial D Street Stage is a heck a of a fun racing game if you like an arcade racer. You'll have to import it though since it's a Japan only release. The manual is also in english, so it's import friendly. :D
