Musicmatch skips while viewing websites

When i'm listening to music on musicmatch and I open up Firefox, the music skips. It only skips while the webpages are loading but it is very annoying. Firefox also runs very slow. Any solutions to this would be appreciated
 
I know this probably isn't the solution you're looking for but I'd stop using musicmatch as quickly as you possibly can. Try iTunes, Winamp, or hell, even WMP9 is better than musicmatch. Sorry, man, I've just had bad experiences with that program.

I haven't used the program in a long, long time, and so I don't quite remember how much ram I had back then, but just curious, why do you like musicmatch? I'm not trying to flame or anything, I'm just trying to derermine what you want/need in a media layer to see if we can't get you a different (read: more stable) program!

When's the last time you defragged your HDD/s?

I have a gig of ram, although at this point it seems irrelevant :p
 
Misfitted_Mecha, check out foobar2000 if you are interested in checking out new audio players. It plays nearly everything, uses less memory, and some say it sounds better than the alternatives.
 
Clear your TEMP folders, delete your temporary internet files, etc. Who knows, it might work?
 
I started using Winamp over Musicmatch, and damn, its better. Anyway, your problem is probably something to do with the browser accesssing your harddrive when Musicmatch is, causing the music to skip and miss. I know that Musicmatch doesn't allow you to change the size of its cache (the portion of RAM that stores the music files before it is played, the bigger the better as you can store more music in there before it has to access the HD again), but Winamp does, I don't know about others. With Winamp on my system, I have the cache set to about 1 second, it cuts down on the amount of times it has to access the HD, and I can play games pretty easily. So thats your problem. Get another mp3 player :)
