Music production: Laptops vs. PCs.

For those that have a recording/music production setup, do you think it'd be best to set it up at home on a PC or on a laptop?

I see more and more people using audio software on their laptop everyday. Is it just me or is the laptop taking control of the sound production world?
 
Well laptops excel at portability, but I don't see them taking over desktops in audio creation anytime soon.
Reason? Soundcards.
It's tough (at best) to have a card as good as say an M-Audio 1010 or EMU 1212 in terms of soundquality and inputs and outputs. You could get a USB card, that is limited by the USB bus or something else similar, but it wouldn't work as well.

Also for raw recordings, have 1TB+ of space on a desktop cannot be easily matched by a laptop. So I suppose it all depends on application.
